“You are fucking incredible,” he says as he steps forward, pulling me to him. Tilting my head up, I drink him in, his smell and taste.

I look down at Neil and see the twinge of fear in his eyes. My grin grows.

Killian steps back and changes the music. The first few notes of ‘Fire’ vibrate across the room. I bite my lip and close my eyes, moving my body much like I did my first night here. A fitting end.

Pleased with my soundtrack, I grab the bottle of gasoline and give it a little shake for effect, winking toward the three men. Killian grins and I bite my lip.

I hear a low hiss and glance over and realize Tanner has pissed himself. My grin only grows as I walk up to Neil, bending slightly so he’s at eye level with me.

“You know, I thought a lot about how I’d do this once I got here, but it was actually Kill who helped me do the research. Apparently, burning to death is one of the worst ways to die. I’m not sure who volunteered to figure that one out, but maybe you can help each other?”

I turn to Tanner, ignoring the muffled screams as I liberally pour the flammable liquid over him before pushing his chair a bit away from Neil.

“Wouldn’t want you to catch too soon,” I tell him knowingly. I look up at Killian once more and the approval in his eyes is all I need. Pulling out a pack of matches, I strike one. I smile and watch Tanners face, blowing one final kiss before I toss it toward the gasoline-soaked man and step back.

The tape on his mouth burns away quickly and his screams echo long and loud. My nose crinkles at the smell of gas and burning flesh. I watch Tanner a moment longer as his skin boils and cracks, his screams slowly, but surely, quieting.

“What do you think? Could we make it worse?” I ask Neil and Killian, sitting back with crossed arms as the fire continues to crackle.

“Looks pretty bad to me,” Killian grimaces and I nod before turning to Neil.

“I’ll admit, the results please me,” I inform him before picking up the extinguisher and putting out the husk that was Tanner. Putting it down, I grab the gas one more time and look at Neil. Despite that he just watched his friend be burned alive and knows he’s about to experience the same, he meets my eyes and I see nothing but rage. I smirk. Fear will come soon enough. Leaning forward, I kiss his cheek lightly before whispering, “Don’t worry, princess. It’ll all be over soon.”

Epilogue

Echo

“Dos cervezas más,” I say, leaning against the wooden beach bar. Luis makes the best fucking margaritas I’ve had in my life, but sometimes all you need is a cold beer.

“Si, bonita,” he replies as he pulls two bottles from the counter.

I drop some pesos and tilt my head before grabbing the bottles and heading back to the umbrella. Killian has a hat on his face and I hear light snores. Never one to turn up a moment of fun, I put the beers down and grab a sharpie from my purse.

Grinning, I lean down and lift up the hat to see two eyes staring at me.

My own eyes widen as his dart down to the pen in my hand, the guilty look on my face. I smile sheepishly and he smirks.

“How old are you again?” he asks, and I beam.

“Twenty-nine and holding, and don’t you forget it,” I reply quickly with a wink, my standard answer. He laughs and flips me around. Both our bodies are vaguely slick with sweat and sunscreen, and I slide under him easily.

His hand drags down my side, cupping my ass and pulling me toward him.

“I’m going to have to get you back for that one.” He grins. I let out a mock sound of shock.

“What? I didn’t even actually get to do it!”

He tugs the curtain of the cabana and it falls, leaving us in our own darkened beach bed.

“Intent matters,” he mumbles as he undoes his shorts. I smile and look down before giving him a wink.

“I accept my punishment.”

As my head lowers, I hear, “Good girl.”

A girl could get used to this.

Killian
