Quinn curled up beside me, resting her head on my chest.

"Do you feel better?"

I nodded, my hand stroking her hair. "I feel perfect now."

"Do you want to talk about it?" she offered, her hand resting on my chest.

Leaning down, I kissed her forehead. "Thanks, but I don't want to burden you with it."

Quinn looked up at me. "You're never a burden, Levi. You're everything to me. So we share our problems."

If only she knew.

If she did… she'd never look at me the same.

I pushed the thought out of my mind, cupping her face.

"One day, when all the chaos in our lives is over, I'm going to marry the hell out of you, Quinn Northstone."

She laughed, her hazel eyes full of life. "I hope you do. There's nothing I would want more."

Chapter 6

Thingshadgoneeerilyquiet. I couldn't help but stress that something big was about to go down. But no matter who I asked, no one else knew anything either.

I spent some time catching up with a few guys from the team after practice, welcoming the distraction for a change. We were about to walk out of the change rooms when Chad came over, sitting down beside me.

"Hendo, your friend is a fire cracker," he said in a low tone, reaching down to tie his shoe laces.

"Which one?" I asked curiously.

Chad sat back up, giving me a wink. "Blair."

My eyebrows shot up. Surely, he wasn't insinuating what I thought he was. Blair had no interests in jocks, and if she didn't want Nathan, then I'm sure as hell confident she didn't want douchebag Chad either.

"What do you mean?" I asked, crossing my arms.

Chad leaned in so no one else could hear. "My friend went to that underground fighting ring the other night. She got up and fought."

"What?!" I yelled, immediately lowering my voice again. "What do you mean she fought?"

Chad grinned. "Yeah. Knocked some chick right out. It was amazing."

I was tempted to knock Chad in the face but I just nodded, playing along. "Wow. Go her. I had no idea."

The fact that Blair was fighting in the Spades underground ring was fucking alarming. She really was spiralling out of control. I thought it was bad the first time she went, but now it seems shit is escalating faster than the damn Concorde.

"I have to run, but see you next practice," I said, standing up as I grabbed my phone out of my gym bag. Slinging my bag over my shoulder, I texted Quinn. We needed to visit Blair, this shit was getting too much for me to handle. Maybe Quinn could talk some sense into her. I would just casually mention it in the conversation like a concerned friend.

It hurt me because I knew Quinn would lose her shit over this. But, sharing is caring and interventions happened for a reason.

Once I texted Quinn, I shot off a quick message to Benny asking to meet up later too. I needed something now, leverage or information. Justanything.

I just hoped he had something.

The three of us were holed up in Blair's room, munching down on pizza. Quinn had come over earlier than me, claiming they needed some girl hours before I joined. It was a smart plan, hopefully she would have gathered some information out of Blair that she might not have disclosed with me around.

I did my best to act normal and naive, hoping that the questions I needed to ask wouldn't come off suspicious.
