"I'll manage," I answered, grabbing my keys.

"Like fuck you will. I'll drive and drop you off," he said, snatching my keys. I looked at him blankly.

"I can't ask you to do that. It's Spades territory."

Benny rolled his eyes. "So? I'm not letting you wrap your car around a tree, bro. Come on. But if they shoot your ass, I'm not carrying your body."

I laughed, following him to the car.

I didn't want him to get too close, just in case, so I had him drop me off a short distance away. I walked the rest of the way, heading into the park.

Blair stood out like a sore thumb. She was alone at the table, but I had no doubt in my mind that her trio were here too, watching.

"Blair," I said happily as I approached her. I stopped short, waiting to gauge her reaction. She was nervous, the look of betrayal and hurt still on her face. But this was a start, I think.

"You came," she replied.

I gave her a small smile. "Of course I came."

She suddenly looked mad, glaring at me. "Well excuse me for being weary."

"I know you're mad."

Blair slammed her hand on the table. "Mad? Levi, I'm fucking furious. I'm hurt. Are you fucking kidding? You betrayed me and knew I was going to be murdered. You helped, you…"

I cut her off, desperate to tell her everything. "Let me explain."

I told her everything. My upbringing, why I was sent to Woodlands and how Quinn and I fell in love. I told her how I had tried to save them but I was too late.

We talked about her brother and the Hunters coming after her. I told her everything I knew… everything I could. Anything that would hopefully help and stop her from ending up like Quinn.

"I don't forgive you yet. Not by a long shot. And fuck knows I shouldn't be here. But you did save my life so I owe you the benefit of the doubt."

I nodded. "You mean a lot to me, Blair. Even if you don't believe it."

Blair's gaze looked towards the tree line where I knew the Spades were watching. "You better know that I'm a Spade now. And I'm withthem. I love them, Levi. And they love me. They will tear you apart if you betray me again."

I looked towards the tree line, nodding. "I know. And I would let them."

Xanderson stepped out from hiding, his angry gaze on me. I gave him a nod, before saying goodbye to Blair and walking off.

I was going to do whatever it took to get her trust back, and hopefully in return, I could protect Benny. I didn't care about my future, I'd accepted my fate. But I wouldn't let anyone else get hurt. Even if it meant risking my own life.

Benny and I worked endlessly, digging up whatever paperwork we could find. Anything useful, I sent to Blair, hoping it would give her the freedom she deserved.

We kept in touch, meeting when we could so I could give her and the Spades updates. It was weird playing double agent for real, but for once, I didn't feel guilty for doing it.

I had done my best to avoid seeing anyone but it had been too long. So, I wasn't surprised when my father contacted me, demanding my presence.

Asshole: Meeting at Factory B. Now.

Sighing, I showed Benny the message. "What do you think it's about?"

He looked up from the piece of pizza he was chewing. "Beats me. I'll tag along though."

I was supposed to meet with Blair, but I couldn't risk being late to this stupid meeting. I'd just have to text her later and explain.

We piled into my car, heading to the factory. I didn't have the mentality to deal with the asshole today, but the sooner I could get this over with, the better. What killed me though was this was the factory that Quinn had died in. I had no idea how I would manage to keep my emotions in check, so I quickly had a smoke in the car, hoping the nicotine would calm me enough before we got there.
