Lynx

I forced myself to get into the cage and close the door. “Go!”

It took every ounce of strength to not pull my gun and end Richard once and for all. I hated the prick for how he’d treated my girls. Some might see my methods of dealing with someone as extreme. They were probably right.

Did I care? At this moment when my emotions were messed up? Fuck. No.

But my girls kept me in check. I wouldn’t spill blood in front of them. I wasn’t a killer the way Richard tried to portray me. I didn’t hurt innocent people. My father was the furthest thing from decent. The men who kidnapped Jaynee and Sadie the night at the Viper’s Den weren’t wholesome and sinless.

Richard wasn’t being reasonable either. He was a selfish asshole. No chance in hell I’d let him use and control my woman. Not in this lifetime. I wouldn’t stand by and let him manipulate her by threatening to get custody of the daughter he never wanted or acknowledged. If Jaynee wanted to dance on his fucking stage, she wouldn’t have run to Minnesota. Then we wouldn’t have met.

And I wouldn’t have fallen in love with her.

Fuck. I couldn’t imagine not having her in my life.

Copper drove out of the back parking lot. Storm and the others waited for us a block away.

Cobra was in the passenger seat. He’d insisted on coming because of Karma. Those two were intense. I even felt uncomfortable around them.

“I can’t believe you’re here.” Jaynee laced her fingers with mine.

I captured the lips I’d missed, not caring who was watching. Now wasn’t the time to scold her for not listening to me in the first place.

Giggles came from behind us. I cracked my eye open to see my peanut smiling. I broke away from Jaynee and reached my hand out to Sadie. “How’s my peanut doing?”

“I missed you, Daddy.”

My heart seized.

Jaynee peered over her shoulder. “Sadie, I told—”

“I missed you too, peanut. I’ll always come for you.” I cut my gaze to Jaynee and whispered, “Leave it alone, baby.”

“What took you so long?” Sadie asked. “We’re you on another secret mission? I don’t like when you’re gone.”

“I know, sweet girl. I’m not going anywhere any more.”

Sadie’s face brightened, but Jaynee didn’t share her joy.

My woman let go of my hand. “You’re just confusing her.”

“We’ll discuss this another time. There’s a plane waiting at the airport. Cobra and his brother will fly you, Sadie, and Karma back home.”

Panic glinted in her eyes. “You’re not coming with us?”

“I have business to attend to.” I caressed her cheek with my thumb. “I’m coming back, Jay.” I kissed her lips.

“What are you going to do to him?”

“When you get back to the compound, Maddy will show you to our family unit in the back.”

“Don’t ignore me, Zander.”

“Jay, do you want to be with me?” I couldn’t believe we were going to have this conversation in front of Sadie and the others.

“Yes.”
