“Then you can’t be asking questions. Trust me. I’m coming back to you.”

“You can’t go all lawless and do as you please, Zander. If you went to jail, what would Sadie and I do without you?” She touched her stomach like she was going to be sick.

“I promise, I’m coming back.” I hugged her tightly.

“I can’t lose you.” She sniffled into my shoulder. “Wecan’t lose you.”

“You won’t, baby. I need you and Sadie more than I’ve ever needed anything. I’m coming back.” I chuckled, kissing her neck. “Storm will make sure of it.”

Dirty Dick’s embodied every raunchy image I expected in a Vegas club. I stared at the stage where my woman had twerked her lush ass while topless. It was strange how worked up I got over Jaynee. I guessed that was what love did to a person. It made me possessive and protective.

Red and pink lips glowed on the walls. There was chrome and black leather everywhere. According to Richard, the club would open back up in a couple of weeks.

I didn’t want to be here breathing the same air as the dick, but I had no choice. Storm ran the show. He didn’t want to spill any more blood. Grizzly’s investigation into Richard showed he was all talk, only a businessman. He wasn’t mixed up in dirty shit or went around killing people. But he was an asshole.

Theo had connected Storm with a family lawyer in Las Vegas while I was in jail. We were here to make a deal with Richard. A shit ton of money if he relinquished his parental rights.

“Well?” I drummed my fingers on the table, impatient as hell. I wanted to get home to Jaynee and Sadie. When I’d gotten them on the plane, Sadie had made me pinky promise I’d be home for supper. I’d do everything possible to not break that promise. And my lovely Jaynee? She had kissed me long and hard, stirring me up down low. I couldn’t wait to reconnect with her in the bedroom.

“Despite what you think, I care about Sadie.” Richard put the document on the table. “She is my daughter.”

“Is that right? Only biologically speaking.” I leveled my eyes at him. “Sign the document and take the money.” It pissed me off how he didn’t mention caring about Jaynee. The prick only wanted to use her for his financial benefit.

“What will you tell Sadie? I mean about me?”

I knew it. Richard would sign away his right for one million dollars. Bastard. I should be thrilled, but I hated it for my peanut. She deserved better. I’d be honored to provide her with what she’d missed out on with this dick.

“Absolutely nothing. She thinks you’re Jaynee’s friend. It won’t take long for her to forget you.” I pointed my finger at him. “If you come around years from now, telling her you’re her bio dad, I’ll kill you.”

Storm growled his disapproval of my threat.

“I’m not blowing smoke up your ass, Richard. Don’t mess with my girls.” My blood pressure spiked. I meant it. I’d kill him in a heartbeat if he fucked with what was mine.

“Just like you killed your old man,” Richard shot back.

I seethed but held my tongue. The fucker didn’t know shit about my father. Yeah, I killed him so he wouldn’t kill my mom. I’d do it again if needed.

Storm shifted in his seat, showing he was all out of patience. “Are you gonna sign or not?”

Richard looked around his club. “Yeah. I’ll sign.” He pulled a pen out of his pocket and scribbled his signature on the document. “But I still have the Lane card.” He grinned as if victorious.

The amateur had no clue. Grizz had found Lane playing the slot machines in Caesars Palace. He wouldn’t be talking about what went down the day my dad overdosed.

Storm grabbed the document, folded it, and put it in the inside pocket of his cut. He jerked his head for Wolf to bring the briefcase holding the million dollars.

I held my breath. This shit was almost over.

Next on my to-do list was to make Jaynee and Sadie legally mine.
