“Seriously, a lockdown? Is this really necessary?” Piper munched on a chocolate-dipped pretzel rod, then pointed it at Cobra. “It’s really inconvenient.”

“You make it sound like we enjoy this.” Cobra scanned the table. He’d called an informal meeting when we got home. After supper, the women had cleared the table so he could get down to business. “As president, I call the shots.”

“And we’ll do what you say, son.” Dad looked at Lady M. “I fully support Cobra’s decision.”

“I do, too, if he feels this FF is a real threat.” She arched her eyebrow. “There’s more at stake, Abe.”

“I know that. Karma and Nova are at the top of my list.”

“Abe, I know you’re just trying to keep us safe—”

“Stop right there.” He put his arm behind Karma’s back and pulled her close. “I need to protect what’s mine. Let me do my job.”

She sighed. “We just got back together. It’ll be awkward staying under your parents’ roof. No offense.” She grimaced at my parents.

“Pshh. None taken.” Lady M waved her off. “You don’t need to be quiet when you’re doing it. Sex is a natural act.”

Dad snorted. “Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten how things work in an MC.”

“I haven’t.” Karma stared at Cobra pleadingly. “Is there any other way?”

I couldn’t blame her for not wanting to stay at the farmhouse. She and Abe were making up for all the time they’d lost. The last thing they needed was my parents and the very men who’d torn them apart under the same roof day and night.

“No, baby. It’s a done deal.”

“You can always take her out to the barn for privacy,” I told them. God knew I’d had plenty of women out there.

“Yeah.” Cobra jiggled Karma. “Remember how we’d play in the straw?”

Spectre groaned from across the table.

“Okay, let’s not get off-topic here,” Piper snipped. “I’m finishing my internship at the hospital. I can’t miss work.”

“I need my baby girl here so I know she’s okay,” Dad replied. “Talk to your supervisor and let them know you need time off.”

“Dad, this is my career we’re talking about. It’s important. Besides, Stitch is there. I’ll be fine.”

Dad cut his gaze at Cobra. “What do you think, Prez?”

“We can put prospects at the entrances.”

“I’ll take a shift guarding her,” Buff said.

“I’ll do the same.” Spectre elbowed Piper playfully and winked. “She’s too damn close to being finished.” They’d always acted more like friends than brother and sister. Probably because they were the youngest in the family.

“Thanks.”

“Get me your schedule so I can work it all out. We’ll all do a shift.” Cobra took a drink of his beer. He’d sure changed after Karma was back in his life. Lady M had called them soul mates. She’d said they were only half living without their perfect match when they were apart. I didn’t buy her nonsense. “The sooner we take down FF, the sooner everything can get back to normal. We’ve got a wedding to plan.”

Karma shot him a dreamy look. “Yes, and preferably over before school starts. Nova will be so disappointed if she misses out on the first day.”

“Agreed,” Lady M chimed. “That gives you boys less than two weeks to make things safe for Nova and the rest of us. Speaking of my sweet girl, I’ll go check on her.” She left the table.

Shit, two weeks wasn’t a lot of time. We had no idea how many were in the gang and what kind of damage they could inflict. Going to war could stretch out over months or longer.

“I’m gonna stay at the casino.” I had a personal suite at The Aeros—we all did.

“You need to stay close,” Cobra said.
