The white-haired old lady scowled and huffed, crossing her arms.

I shut the door and chuckled, returning to the driver’s side.

“Can you imagine Lady M being that old?” Bone asked.

“That’s a scary thought. By the way, you’re the VP anymore, brother.” I elbowed him, getting into my seat.

“Oh shit. I keep forgetting I’m the Prez of the Montana chapter.” A face-splitting grin appeared on his face.

“Yes, I see how proud you are of that fact.” I tapped my fingers on the steering wheel. “I’ll take the women back to the farm, then I’ll meet you at the Eastside Village where Bill works. He won’t be off for another hour. We should have plenty of time.”

“Sounds good.” Bone strutted off.

“Okay, let’s get to the farm.” I pulled away from the curb.

“Thank you for finding Reign and keeping her safe. I appreciate all your doing for us.” Alondra wiped under her eyes. “I’m almost afraid to see my daughter.”

Me too.

I’d seen her crying as she ran after my truck, then collapsed on the ground.

And had I stopped? No.

Yeah, facing the woman who owned my heart scared the fuck out of me.

“What is she mixed up in?” Alondra whispered.

“You should ask Reign.” I peered at her in the rearview mirror.

“I’m asking you, Jonah.” Her dark eyes were locked on me. Granny’s gaze was directed outside like she wasn’t listening to us. I’d bet my life she was dialed into our conversation, hence Alondra’s whispering.

“She’d want to tell you all about it herself.” How would I deal with these stubborn, relentless women under one roof? The faster I got them to Minnesota, the better, for the sake of my sanity. The saying like mother like daughter fitted this duo to a tee.

“Did she commit a crime? Is there a warrant out for her arrest? Did she kill someone?”

“No.” I sighed dramatically. Seriously, why would she think such things?

“Then nothing you tell me will be worse than I imagined.”

Now that made sense.

“She got mixed up with an MC in South Dakota. I’m not telling you anything else.”

“I suppose they’re not like your club?”

Smart woman. “No.”

“Thank you.” She sat back.

Perfect, no more questions.

Now I could overthink everything about Reign and me. The next half an hour would be the longest of my life.

Reign

When would Jonah come back? I paced in his room, biting my nails and lecturing myself. Me and my stupid loose lips and little to zero filters. They were horrible characteristics to have. I couldn't control my mouth when angry, frustrated, or stressed.
