She laughed. “Well, maybe not a whole herd but … you know.”

“No. I don’t know. Tell me, how many kids do you want?”

She shrugged. “You know I’m one of five, right?”

He laughed. “You want five kids?”

She waggled her eyebrows. “It is a very big house. You have lots of bedrooms.”

“That’s true. We do.”

Her smile faded. “I’m joking, but … how many kids do you want?”

“I don’t know. I … how about we start with two and see how we feel from there.”

“Okay. That sounds like a plan, but I can tell you that I probably won’t want to stop at two.”

“I don’t think I will but, Becca, you’ve got to remember that I’m not a spring chicken. I don’t want to be an old man by the time they go off to college. I want to still have a lot of years left to enjoy with my beautiful wife by the time we have an empty nest.”

“Aww. I love the sound of that. And you’re right, maybe we should stop at two.” She laughed. “Or maybe we need to get started as soon as we can so that we can fit in a few more.”

He took her hand and started heading for the stairs, loving the way she linked her fingers through his.

“Where are we going in such a hurry?” she asked with a laugh that said she already knew.

He looked back at her over his shoulder. “I’m in a hurry to start making babies with you. We can’t do that until you marry me, but just the thought of it has me wanting to get in as much practice as we can until you do.”

She ran past him and stopped to look back at him when she reached the top of the stairs. “Come on, then. I’m in a hurry, too.”

When he reached her, he closed his arms around her and walked her backwards into the bedroom. “What are you in a hurry for, Becca?”

He nipped her lips and loved the way she pressed herself against him. “Are you in a hurry to marry me, to make babies with me, or …” he closed his hands around her ass and rocked her against his aching cock … “to practice?”

Her fingers fumbled with his button and zipper as she looked up into his eyes. “All of it, Jacob. I want it all with you. All we can do right now is practice, but …” Her hands paused at his waist, and she looked deep into his eyes. “Honestly? Now that my folks know, I’m in a hurry to marry you and start making babies.”

All his breath caught in his chest. “You don’t want to take our time – to be sure?”

“No.” He’d never seen her look as confident as she did when she smiled back at him. “I am sure, and I know that you are, too.”

He claimed her mouth in a deep, lingering kiss that left her moaning into his mouth, and had him tearing her clothes off to get to her. Her confidence blew away the last of his hesitation. She was his, she had been since the first time he’d made love to her. And now, all that was left to do was to make her officially his – forever. He was going to make her his wife.

Chapter Nineteen

Becca brought Grover to a stop when she reached the gatehouse. Sometimes, she forced herself to just drive on through and wave when the guys who worked in there opened the gate for her. It felt rude to do that, but she had to try and get used to it. Today, she could see that it was Slade in there, and he felt more like a friend, so she really didn’t want to just drive by. She was growing her friendships with Hannah and Piper and the other girls, but she liked being friends with Slade and Elena, too. She didn’t think she’d ever be comfortable with seeing them as just people who worked at the estate.

Slade came out of the gatehouse as she put her window down. “Hey, Becca. Did you have a good day at school?”

She laughed. “I still feel like one of the kids when people ask me that.”

He laughed with her. “I thought about that when I said it. I asked Ava the same thing when she got home a little while ago. Sorry.”

“No, don’t apologize. It was an okay day, thanks. I wish all the kids were as good as Ava. I had to call some of the moms in about a fight today.”

Slade chuckled. “Boys will be boys, huh?”

“They will, I suppose. But this was girls.” She shook her head. Madison was starting to get out of hand lately. She’d picked a fight with Jenna Williams. It bothered Becca that they were both Ava’s friends. She didn’t want her to get caught up in any of it.

“Wow! I still think of little girls as being all sweetness and light.”
