Page 42 of Loving Rush

His brow softened, and he flashed me a gorgeous smile. "Please. Please do."

I laughed out loud, catching him looking at me in that way again like he was trying to understand a tricky math problem.

I wasn't that hard to figure out. Not really. A spark of boldness pulsed through me. "Great, but I may need incentives." I'd never officially come on to anyone before. My words sounded awkward. Unfortunately, they reminded me of the time I'd tried to come on to our gardener's son, who was working the summer with his dad. That hadn't gone well at all. I tried to stop my blush from spreading along my skin.

"What incentives did you have in mind?" His lips quirked into another smirky smile.

Go on, Lux… tell him.

"For starters, how about a kiss?"

"But I thought you were here just to work on fixing the office?" The smirk grew, and his eyes landed on my lips.

"Believe me, I will do that." I bit the inside of my cheek.

"Well, then." His hand slid around my waist, gently tugging me against his body. His gaze burned with intensity. Then he lowered his lips to mine.

I shuddered gently against him at the electricity of our touch. His lips caressed mine. Damn, I was already hot and ready to fuck him again. At this rate, I'd never get anything done. My fingers wound into his dark hair, and I pressed open his mouth with my tongue, dancing a rhythm that had him getting hard.

There was a tinkling sound down in the garage.

Rush pulled back. "A customer. That's probably for the best. Otherwise, I wouldn't let you get any work done."

"I like the sound of that," I said. My effect on him sent a thrill down my spine and made me bloom with a power I didn't know I had. Yet I knew he had the same control over me because I was beyond smitten. I was in love and lust and… all of it. I just wanted to spend every waking moment with him. Then sleep beside him every night. Not a lot to ask, was it?

"If you need anything, come find me."

"I'll solve this office riddle. Not to worry. Go do your biker thing."

He laughed out loud. "You got it. No pressure if you can't solve it. But if you do, I'll be eternally grateful." He shot me a wink that made me want to kiss him all over again.

I laughed and turned for the havoc looming behind me. "I don't think there are that many hours in the day, but whatever I can't figure out today, I'll solve tomorrow," I said, glancing over my shoulder.

His stare intensified. "Even after seeing this mess, you'll be back?"

My mouth dried. "Fuck yeah," I said and giggled. Then covered my mouth. That was new to me. I usually didn't sound like a schoolgirl.

"Fuck yeah." He kissed my cheek and left me to face the paperwork.

My only experience was what I did in my mom's office. But my gut told me businesses weren't run like this. I reached for the first pile of random invoices, both money in and out, and flicked through them.

Right then, it felt like my life began for real.

Mom would have kittens if she knew what I was eating and not eating, but especially if she knew what I was doing. Yet, I pushed that thought away. One way or another, things would work out. I'd make them work because I'd found someone like Rush. Plus, I had a job to do. I sure as hell wasn't going back to the way things had been before he came into my life.

I didn't seeRush for a few hours. Occasionally a clang from the garage would remind me he was there. I was swallowed by the paperwork. As far as I could tell, Clint, of motorbike accident fame, did not have any system at all, apart from one of sheer laziness.

When Rush walked in way past lunchtime, he gasped in amazement at the clean surfaces and then narrowed his eyes, glancing down into the bin.

"You just threw it all away, didn't you? Not that I can blame you. That was my first thought," he said.

"Haha," I replied, rolling my eyes. "Do you think the bin is big enough to put all that mess in?" It was fair to say I'd also anti-bac'd the surfaces with cleaner I'd found in a small closet behind the door next to the office. "Look here. Let me show you what I've done so far." I paused, wondering if that was what he wanted. "Unless you can't?"

"Oh, I'm here for it. Show me what you got?" He wriggled his brows mischievously.

"Fine, I will." I stood and pointed out the serviceable and almost empty metal filing cabinets. "A lot of the paperwork is in here." I slid the top one open, flashing the different folders and showing him that I labeled them.
