He quickly got himself under control and went back to trying to push my buttons. “I wonder what the lovely Ms. Wyatt thinks about all this?”

If he thought he was going to get a rise out of me by mentioning Alexis, he was wrong. It wasn’t that I didn’t care what happened to Alexis, but I wasn’t invested in her enough to go to prison for her. Besides, she’s been to the meetings. Alexis was fully aware that something was going on with August, and I’ve had that conversation with her. She knew to stay away from August, Laney, and Jennifer, though Jennifer wasn’t an issue any longer.

“She thinks the same thing we all do,” I said, speaking for her. “She thinks you’re a coward.”

“Luckily, she has you to protect her, right?” he scoffed. “Seems like all those lovely ladies are in good hands.” When August didn’t get the reaction out of me that he wanted, he unknowingly went for the jugular. “Except, now that Saxton is busy with his lovely wife, where does that leave Kincaid?”

With his shirt tangled in my fists, I had him up against the wall, not giving one fuck about Elias. “You go anywhere near Kincaid, and I will fucking kill you myself.”

The grin on his face was proof of my major fuckup. I had just shown my hand, and I knew August was going to do whatever he could to exploit it.

“My, my, my,” he drawled out. “Well, isn’t this an interesting development.”

I let him go and took a big step back. There was no point in denying anything now. He’d gotten the reaction he’d wanted, only he had expected it at the mention of Alexis, not Kincaid.

“Make no mistake, Remington,” I hissed. “If you go anywhere near Kincaid Black, I will gut you alive. That’s if Saxton hasn’t already done away with you.”

August straightened to his full height, but who gave a fuck. He wasn’t taller than me, so there’d be no intimidation coming from that move. “You don’t scare me, Harrington.”

“Then you’re a motherfucking fool on top of being a sick sonofabitch,” I returned. “On the totem pole of this year’s initiating class, you’re at the bottom. Don’t forget that, Remington.”

“Again, seems like you fellas are all fucking talk,” he goaded again. “Besides, it might be worth meeting my maker to get my hands on those curves of Kincaid’s. If there was ever a girl worth dying for, I imagine it’d be her.”

I knew he was saying all this shit just to rile me up, but I never could control my anger when it came to Kincaid. The idea of August Remington putting his slimy hands on her precious body was enough to make me crazed.

“I dare you,” I snarled. “I dare you, August.” He lifted his chin in false bravado. “Let’s not forget that this is Kincaid Black that we’re talking about here. If you think it won’t be your life if you touch her, then think again.”

“Fox!” I turned to see Sutton power-walking our way. When she got to us, she grabbed my hand. “Let’s go,” she ordered. “He’s not worth it.”

“Well, if it isn’t the lovely Mrs. Carmichael,” August cooed.

“Go eat a dick,” she spat before I let her drag me away from August. We needed to keep the girls away from him, and I imagined Ross would kill me if he knew that I’d let Sutton get into the middle of our bullshit.

Grabbing my book bag off the ground, we walked away from August. As soon as I delivered her to Ross, I got to class, doing my best to recall Kincaid’s Thursday morning schedule because we needed to talk.

Again.
