“Where is he?” my sister asked.
“He went home to think.” I plopped into a chair. “I don’t think that I need to tell you two that we need to keep this quiet until he decides what to do.”
“Like that is even a choice.” Lena said on a laugh.
“He believes it is.” I told her, “And that decision is his to make.”
“What kind of decision is there?” She asked. “He either lives forever or he dies.”
“I agree with Kris,” Cameron said, “While it might seem like an easy answer, he doesn’t know anything about us. I’m sure that after he considers it for a little while, he’ll make the right one.”
“Yeah, to turn and mate with Kristin.” My sister’s words brought me up short.
“Say what?”
“Cameron and I were just discussing how incredible it would be if you were mated to another reborn. Can you imagine the power you would have?”
“Whoa-whoa-whoa, hold your horses you two. It was less than two hours ago that I was wondering if I wanted to even bond to the man to make him a consort. Now you want me to mate with him?”
“Think about it, Kris.” Cameron leaned forward. “You and your sister are a force to be reckoned with when you combine your strength. Can you not imagine how strong you would be as not only mated, but mated to another reborn? One with abilities.”
“We don’t know that he will have any.” I stated.
Angelina frowned, “Yeah, actually we don’t know that. I don’t have any type of ability like she does. Yeah, I can strengthen what she does, but no other ability has manifested itself in me. What makes us think that Hugh will be any different?”
“But what if he is?” Cameron asked. “Even if he doesn’t, I think having two reborn mated together might be a good thing.”
“Maybe,” I murmured.
Cameron turned to my sister. “Maybe Angelina should mate with him, then she can see what it does. If it makes her stronger, or brings out an ability, then maybe you can break the mating and take him for yourself.”
“Hey now!” My sister said putting her hand up. “No fucking way! I was mated once,” She glared at Cameron, “And that was enough. I have no interest in mating with anyone else, even if it is on a trial basis. Who is to say that anything would come to him, and then I’d be stuck with a mate. No, thank you.”
“I thought you liked him, Lena.” I grinned at her. I totally got what she was saying. I’d never ask her to do such a thing, never.
“I said I wanted to screw him, not get saddled with him.” She hissed.
Cameron and I laughed, and the door opened, Joshua popped his head in the door, “Mistress, you are needed downstairs. We have a development.”
“I’ll be right there, Joshua.” I told him and he closed the door behind him again. “I don’t need to mention it again, do I?”
“No, we’ll keep our mouth shut.”
I got to my feet, “Let’s just hope that Hugh does the same.”
“Why didn’t you compel him to not talk?”
“I don’t know. Maybe I should have, or maybe I need to see what he does on his own.” I headed toward the door, “I’ll talk to you all later.”
In the hallway, Joshua joined me, and we entered the elevator, “What’s going on?’
“There was a scene down at Dangers in the Darkness.”
“What kind of scene?”
He glanced at me, “A few of Portage’s men showed up there.”
“Why?”
