Was I really hearing this shit? Or was it wishful thinking? Only one way to find out. I set my empty beer bottle on the coffee table and began to slowly approach the door she had disappeared through. I came up short at the threshold. She was lying in the middle of a king-sized bed, naked and propped up on her elbow.

“Is this how you imagined?”

Holy shit—instant erection. My gaze slipped down her body, “Kind of like I imagined.”

She piqued a brow, “Were you thinking something more like this?” She rolled to her back, spreading her legs and I almost lost it right there.

Suddenly, the tie around my neck was restricting the air flow. I swallowed the incredible wave of lust that threatened to take me to my knees, “Yeah, that’s more like I imagined.”

She smiled, lifting her hand and crooking her finger at me. “Get undressed and join me, Hugh.”

I took two steps, then paused. “What if I’m married?”

She laughed, “You think I care about that?”

“No, but maybe I do.”

She sighed and rolled back to her side, “Are you married, Hugh? Is there someone that is home waiting for you? A little woman who is wondering where you are so late at night?”

I’d never been so damn happy to be single in my life, “No.”

Her eyes brightened slightly, and then she laid slowly back, spreading her legs again, “Then I suggest you get undressed and get over here, Hugh.”

Yeah, like I was going to say no to that.

Chapter 3 – Angelina

Iwas glad to be backhome. I’d been traveling for three weeks, trying to figure out where the Portage family was living now, but I still wasn’t sure. I’d reached out to every contact that I trusted, and even a few I didn’t.

I was pretty sure that he was holed up in Kentucky or Tennessee or one of those other boring mid-country states, but I didn’t have a clue as to which one, and everyone had been tight lipped. Kris wasn’t going to be happy, but that wasn’t anything new these days.

I did have to hand it to her though. She dealt with the constant shit much better than I did. By now, I would have killed half our breed for the stupid shit they did.

I was pretty sure the only ones that she wanted dead were the Portages and their followers. They started the faction that had branched off years ago when she had taken over as Master or Mistress or whatever the fuck you wanted to call it. They had started the revolt and had taken a lot of people with them.

Joseph Portage needed to grow a backbone and get with the times. Women could be rulers now; hell, the U.S. had already had two female presidents. We didn’t see him revolting against them, or maybe he had. I was irritated as I got off the elevator onto my floor and found Joshua standing outside my sister’s door.

“Why are you out here?” I asked him.

“Your sister has company.” He stated a wee bit sternly.

“In her apartment? That’s not like her.” I said as I went to pass him. “How long have they been in there?”

“About an hour.”
