“Yeah, me too, but I am looking forward to having a new daughter, and granddaughter.” She winked at me.

Riley grinned. “I’m happy for Wes.”

“Me, too.” She smiled tenderly at us as she glanced around. “I hope that one day you all are as happy as Wes.”

I caught the slight frown on Bradley’s face before he hid it, but Riley and I grinned at one another before I peered at my mom and spoke. “I might have already found that, Mom.”

She squeezed my forearm as Riley winked at me. “Yes, I think you might have.”

Chapter Thirteen

Roxanne

Was it possible to start over someplace where no one knew me? Would it be smart to take on parties and events, and not just weddings? Maybe, but I had never considered it before.

If I did as Lee suggested, it would mean leaving everything behind and starting over with nothing. Well, not nothing. Charlotte’s wedding could help me get started, and if I helped his mother with this Valentine’s party, maybe I could get my name out there.

“Are you alright?” Charlotte broke me out of my musings, and I startled.

“Oh, yes, I’m fine. I was just thinking about what Lee and I were talking about.”

Charlotte took a seat on the couch beside me. “Want to talk about it?”

“I’m not sure,” I replied and then instantly changed my mind. “Actually, maybe.”

“Then I’m all ears,” she said with a kind smile.

“He suggested I start my business over and instead of only doing weddings, add in events and parties.”

“I think that’s a great idea. You could probably find a lot more business. People love to entertain, but no one has time to do all the planning.”

“Yeah, but he suggested I move here and do it in Millerstown.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah, I’m not sure about that.”

“Why wouldn’t you do it back where you live?”

“Well, I have a competitor that likes to underbid me just enough to steal my clients. No matter what I do, I seem to lose them almost as soon as I get them. I have a feeling that if I branched out to party planning, she might steal that idea, too.”

“That’s not very nice.”

I laughed slightly. “No, it’s not very nice. I would never do that to someone, but she is always doing it to me. It really makes me wonder how she finds out who my new clients are.”

“Then maybe what Henley suggested is a good idea. Start someplace new.”

“But I don’t know anyone here, Charlotte. My family lives in Plattsville, and as much as they don’t support me on my career choice, they are my family.”

“They don’t support you?” she asked as she looked surprised.

I shook my head. “No.”

“But you enjoy doing it?”

“I do. I love planning weddings.”

“Then you should do it.” She grinned at me. “I think it would be a lot of fun to not only plan weddings, but parties, too.”
