Micah and Claire usually texted instead of calling, and it was by habit that he texted her.

Micah:

Hey, I'm in Austin.

He typed some other things about having fun with her earlier, but he erased it all and went with the simple text.

He had wanted her for so many years, that it was impossible to make himself believe that she wanted him back. He decided to keep it simple. He heard back from her within seconds.

Claire:

Can I call you?

Micah:

Yes.

His phone rang instantly, and he smiled as he picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Hey," she said.

"Hey."

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"I just set foot into my room," he said. "I took a shower, and now I'm just chillin' till I go to bed."

"What do you have tomorrow?" she asked.

"Aiden set up an interview at one, and then I play tomorrow night. I'll get to the venue at about seven. What about you?"

"I have a ton to do this week. I have three estate sales and a huge donation to go through. And I'm still teaching and training that new girl, Allison, that I was telling you about. She's doing ads and social media for me, and it's hard to turn that stuff over since no two people have the same taste. I wish I could just clone myself. But it's good. She's picking it up."

"I wish you could clone yourself, too," he said.

Claire let out a little laugh at that. "Are you nervous?" she asked.

"About what?" he said.

"The interview. The show. Do you get nervous for all that stuff?"

"Not at this point," he said. "A little, but not like I used to. I've done it so many times by now."

"It's just your day job."

"Yeah, more of a night job, but yeah."

"When do you have time to be creative and make new stuff?"

"Anytime, anywhere. I work better when I sit down and make time for it, but inspiration hits me all the time. I started one at the wedding and worked on it during my flight."

"One what?"

"One song."

"You wrote a song today?"
