"Thanks, I'll be right in."

Isaac's dad walked away without saying another word, but he was looking at Isaac with an appraising glance like he might have noticed how excited he was.

"Hey, I heard," Ari said. "I'm going to let you go so you can eat."

Her voice was sweet, and Isaac's chest felt like it was about to explode. Was this happening? It felt like it was really and truly happening.

Ariel Moreno.

She had broken it off with the guy.

That seemed significant.

And then Isaac thought back about three minutes into their conversation and he realized that he was suddenly the guy who cared about whether or not she danced in a rap video.

His excitement started to feel more like nausea when he thought of Ari dancing with a bunch of guys.

"Do you happen to know where I can see one of your videos you've done?" he asked, trying to sound reasonable. "Can I just search your name on YouTube?"

"No, no, it won't come up under that. Lil' Shawn's the guy I'm working with after Thanksgiving. I did one with him called How I Live. You could search that on YouTube, I'm sure."

Isaac wanted to stand out there and watch it right that second, but he wanted to be alone and not have anyone come around the corner. "Can I call you back tonight?" he asked.

"Yeah, how late?"

"How late is the latest I can call?"

"You can call whenever you want. You can call me in the middle of the night. I just can't promise that I'll pick up."

"What time is the latest I can call you and you'll pick up?"

"My eyes will be closing at one-ish at the latest. I usually go to bed around midnight. But you can call me back another time. I was just checking in with you to see how your day went."

"I'll tell you in a little while when I call you back. I'll try not to be too late. If I get hung up, I'll text and let you know."

"That’s okay," she agreed vaguely.

Isaac liked Ari so much. He liked everything about her. He liked her voice and her response to things.

"What's your middle name?" he asked. "I meant to ask you last night and I forgot.

"Jane."

"Ariel Jane Moreno."

"Ari Jane, my mom calls me."

"How about AJ?"

"Not really. My brothers, every once in a while."

"You told me yours was Sean when you told me the story about putting the trampoline next to a tree."

"Oh, yeah," he said. "I did say my middle name during that story."

"Yeah, but I don't know how it's spelled," she said. "Like it sounds, or the fancy way?"

He let out a laugh since he had never been asked that. "The fancy way, I guess, S-e-a-n. Ariel Jane's pretty fancy, too."
