Florence chewed her fingernail. “Okay, but what if Valen goes to the party as well?”

“Okaaay,” she said slowly. “And if you therefore can’t fuck him out of your system? What are you going to do then?”
“Try again on Saturday night?” I suggested.

Florence cackled. “Fuck no,” she chortled, tears threatening. “I definitely think you should. I’m just checking you think you should.”

“Oh my God,” she laughed. “Stop over thinking. I shouldn’t have said anything. Let’s do it.”
My answer was distracted by another message coming through.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked her.
She shrugged. “I don’t know. Ask Exie.”
