My hands were fine.

“For the record,” I say as I show him my hands, “I cut myself that night. You didn’t do it.”

“Good memory,” Archer says. “I left my mark.”

“You keep leaving it, Archer. Got another envelope.”

“Did you open it?”

“Of course I did,” I say.

“That’s risky, isn’t it?”

“You’re not going to put anything in there. We both know that. You just want the attention. Maybe I’m stupid for giving it to you. I could have driven around you just now. Or right at you until you moved.”

“You think running over me would do any good?” Archer asks.

Now I take a step toward him. “I may be new here, but I’m anHeir. You’re aSavage.”

Archer lifts the knife.

I don’t back away.

“You secretly enjoy this, Jaci,” Archer whispers. “I bet he’s vanilla.”

“He?”

Archer smirks.

He’s not going to say Cullen’s name.

“I bet he dotes on you, doesn’t he? You breathe heavy and he jumps up to check on you. You think it’s cute now, but you’re going to feel smothered. Overwhelmed. You’re going to wish you had someone just like me.”

“Yes,” I say. I clutch my hands together. “Oh, yes! Please! Save me, Archer! I need an abusive relationship with some fucking sick-minded guy who can’t let his past go!”

Archer takes a big step closer to me.

His body bumps into mine.

I stumble back.

He uses his non-knife-holding hand to sweep across the middle of my back.

My body instantly picks up on the fact that his middle finger has moved under my bra strap in the back. Not that it matters… but it does…

Archer pulls me against him.

He brings the knife up, just barely touching under my chin.

“Do you tell him everything?” Archer whispers. “Does he know about us? The night on the beach?”

“You know about Cullen and me,” I say.

Archer curls his lip.

I realize that I have some sense of power over him.

My body.
