“Stop it,” I say. I reach for his face. “You don’t have to hurt him. You don’t have to hurt anyone right now. Turn it off, Seth. Look at me. You’re with me.”

Seth stands up and walks to the golf cart.

He tips it onto its side with ease.

I gasp.

Then I look down at the guy with the bloody nose.

“Sorry,” I say to him. “Just know something. I’m anHeir. If I find out you told anyone about this, I’ll make sure you never see another day again, got it?”

The guy nods.

“You tell everyone you turned too fast. The wheels slid on leaves or something. Whatever you need to say.”

He keeps nodding.

I suppose that’s me using my mafia power.

To help Seth.

To help the guy who kidnapped me.

We stand next to Seth’s motorcycle.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen his motorcycle.

He reaches for my hips and I let him touch me.

I let him pull me close against him.

I shut my eyes and take one more deep breath of his smell.

His right hand touches my hair.

His left hand tries to touch my ass.

That’s just typical Seth.

I push away from Seth.

And I slap him across the face.

The sound echoes.

His head snaps back into place and his eyes grow wide.

“Tell me everything you know,” I say. “Right now.”

“That’s not how this works, Jaci,” Seth says. “You can slap me all you want. But you know the more you slap me, the harder I’m going to get. You know I’m going to toss you onto my motorcycle and take you right there on it. You’ve fantasized about that. Remember, you told me?”

I swallow hard and blush.

I hate that Seth knows more about me than anyone else.

He reaches for me again and I step back even more.

I’m out of his reach.
