Then I went to sleep.

Really boring life for a mafia girl, huh?

I laugh to myself as I walk into the coffeeshop.

I take a deep breath of that perfect coffee smell and get in line.

“You’re here again,” a voice whispers behind me.

I look back and see Rosa.

“Hey, there,” I say. “Do you live here? Do you secretly work here?”

“Don’t worry about who I am,” she says. “Are you doing good? Need anything?”

“I’m good for the moment. Can I buy you a coffee? You’re always so nice to me.”

“Maybe I’m just cashing in some future favors,” she says. “I know about you.”

“What exactly do you know about me?” I ask.

Rosa looks around and gets really nervous.

She then smiles at me. “I’ve got to go.”

Before I can say anything else, she darts toward the back door of the coffeeshop.

And she’s gone.

I step forward in line another inch.

Then from the corner of my eye I see the door open and shut.

Cullen and Archer are here.

Cullen walks to the end of the counter and all he has to do is smile.

He holds up three fingers and three coffees appear.

Then he looks at me and nods.

I guess that’s my cue to follow him.

I get out of line and next thing I know I’m sitting at a table with Cullen and Archer.

“I need two more coffees,” I say.

“Do we not make your heart race enough?” Cullen asks.

“For Maz and Birdie,” I say. “They’re hungover.”

“Not you?” Archer asks.

“I barely drank,” I say. “I wasn’t in the mood for my resurrection party.”

“Seth ruined it,” Cullen says.

“No. It’s not that simple.”
