Page 3 of Wolf Burdened

When I first heard the screams, I had sent them a text letting them know, then went to check out the source. But after that, everything had happened so quickly, it was over before they could teleport here. Abruptly, the masked man grabbed me, this time forcefully dragging me towards the portal.

“Wait! Let me go! I can explain what happened! You have to listen!" I screamed, but the man didn’t relent. “Lucian! Rumir!”

They ran towards me as I struggled to break free, but after fighting that werewolf and being slowed down by whatever had entered my body, I was simply too weak.

Rumir and Lucian yelled my name, and I reached my hand out to them. Behind them, Rehema slammed her palms on the ground, and large roots began to appear from beneath the ground, outstretched to me as well.

Who was the masked man who was trying to take me? And what did he plan to do to me? He and his friends didn’t act like gods, so what were they?

I was still learning about this realm, but this—the blood that was already drying on my hands, the crushing weight of what I'd just done, these strange men… It was too much.

Afterlife in the God Realm was supposed to be peaceful—a paradise, even. But this… this was hell.

Lucian’s hand was inches away from mine, his brown eyes turning black as he bared his fangs, but the portal pulled me in before he could grab me.

“Lucian!” I screamed, then sank my teeth into the arm wrapped around me.

“Natalie!” Lucian and Rumir yelled, their voices echoing in my ears as the portal closed.

I squeezed my eyes shut as a blinding light consumed me.
