Page 62 of Her Elemental Mates

“Think of it this way.” She raises her hand with a flourish and a wisp of black moves over her hand like what appears to be flames. It then turns into actual fire. From fire you can see dust moving in her hand as she moves the air and then finally, she runs her hand along the side of the frame, gathering dust in it and it shifts in her hand. She just manipulated four elements in less than a minute. I feel my jaw drop witnessing this miracle before me.

“Our children,” she dramatically pauses, “will be the strongest ever born. Their fathers are the strongest of their unique species. Their mother…” she rests her hand over the top of her chest over her heart, “is basically the thing that should not be.” Spinning on her heel, she turns to face us and then closes the distance quickly.

“As a matter of fact, I should not exist as I am.” The words do not ring true for me.

I move forward against the advice of the others and grip Bella by the back of her neck and pull her flush to me. I force her to crane her head back to look up into my eyes. “You are not a thing. And I will not tolerate you belittling yourself because others are not strong enough to stand beside you.” My voice is more of a growl than human at this point. My beast is angry and is champing at the bit to be let loose and show our mate exactly how worthy she is.

Bella tries to turn away and I won’t let her. Both my hands frame her face and force her to look into my eyes. “You truly are the strongest, bravest female I have ever met in my existence. A female worthy of ruling all the kingdoms. Traditions be damned.” Crushing my lips against hers, I try to imbue this moment with all the passion and love that I have for her.

It’s times like this I wish her father still lived. I would kill him just to make her happy. Her hands paw my flesh as she pulls at me, trying to get me closer to her. The longer I kiss her, the more restless we become. There are too many eyes watching, and my wolf doesn’t like the idea of being on display for everyone.

A knowing smile creeps across her lips as she reluctantly pulls away. “There will be time for that later.” Her words whisper against my lips, and I give her a simple, terse nod.

She turns around to the troops and with a wave of her hand, the doors open wide. Stepping into the hallway, she stops midway — something stops her from leaving the office. She turns back around to us. “Egon, call some of your troops to the castle.”

Sniffing at the door more, Bella turns to face us. “If I’m correct, the Vampires that are within the castle will be down in the dungeons. Send your men to hunt them there.”

My brilliant mate was always two steps ahead of me. I reach out through the pack bond, calling my men back to me. I issue them the orders that my mate has requested. Without hesitation, they move to the dungeons to set the bowels of the castle on fire. The smell of charred flesh and burned wood slowly drifts up through the corridors back into the castle where we stand. Bella lightly dips her head to me and then continues down the hallway heading toward the throne room.

There, upon the throne, a man sits. He is the most delicate and enchantingly beautiful man that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. He has wings like a butterfly and a crown of thorns upon his head. “Arwen.” Power is an illusion and speaking his true name without hesitation gives that power to us.

Shocked, he gasps and leaps up out of the chair. “How did you know my name?” To know a Fae’s true name is to hold power over them. My father’s spies have done their work and done it well, and I will richly reward them when I assume the throne here in the Shadow Kingdom.

“That is no concern of yours.” My flat tone does not give him any chance to approach the subject matter any further.

“I know you killed my father.” Emotionless, he states the obvious. Doesn’t shock me. He doesn’t care that his father is dead. It only means that he’s now the rightful ruler.

I take Bella’s hand and grip it as we walk forward, heading closer toward the throne itself. My bond mates flank us on either side, presenting a united front.

“If you wish to live to inherit your father’s throne, I suggest you leave my mate’s castle while you still have the chance.” He laughs almost to the point of bending over, holding his ribs.

“What makes you think that I’m leaving? You’ve already signed your death warrant.” His smile slowly and seductively creeps across his lips. His eyes glow white as golden rune marks emerge upon his flesh and his skin takes on almost a glittery glow. Fluttering his wings twice, he stands up to his full height of just shy of seven feet. His perfect long white hair flows of its own volition, as if the wind itself moves it.

Rolling her eyes, Bella steps forward and just stares at him. “Do you not know who and what I am?”

He takes several steps forward and then folds his wings. “I do, my future mate.” His arrogance makes my wolf see red.

Bella draws in a nice slow deep breath as she sizes the male up. “What makes you think you’re worthy?”

His melodic tone changes slightly as a slow, soft growl escapes his lips. “Unlike my father, I’m not a purebred. My mother was a wildling. As we royals are required to breed outside of our kind periodically to keep us from going insane.” He stares at his perfect nails as he speaks of his lineage in an almost bored tone. “I feel I am far better suited to be at your side than the mongrels that you already have.”

With that being said, Bella laughs hysterically. It’s now that I see the shadows pulse in her raven locks. He has made the ultimate mistake of speaking ill against those she loves. “Really now?” He nods emphatically, agreeing with her statement. “Remove your cloak.” Her tone holds command. The command of an alpha is impossible to ignore, even for the prince. Under his cloak we see a lot of padding, making himself look larger than he is.

“Remove your trousers,” is the next demand from her and myself, Hollis, Kaedyn and Sebastian, look at her as if she’s lost her mind. This time he smiles an almost maniacal smile. He removes everything, laying himself bare before her. I have to say I don’t make it a practice to study other man’s cocks, but his it’s probably the longest thinnest one that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Reminds me of a garter snake fresh out of hibernation from its place under a rock. Bella is not the only one that notices how lacking the Fae is and yet he still stands tall and proud, as if he’s just revealed the greatest thing known to womankind.

“Hmm…” Bella taps her bottom lip as she circles him, sizing him up. Bella is built heavier than the male, her biceps larger than his. It’s then that I see the emerald glow in her eyes blaze to life. Her hands extend out as she gets behind him again, and the first thing she does is hack his wings off with her talons. Dark sapphire blood runs down his back as he shrieks in pain and over the horror of what my mate has just done. She comes at him again, slashes him across the chest three more times.

“Usurper!” she screams at the top of her lungs as she charges again; this time lunging forward and ripping his throat out with her canines. She stands back, her face colored in dark blue blood. She still holds his chunk of flesh between her teeth before she spits it out on the floor in front of him.

“Meet your maker,” Bella growls out as she watches him fall to the floor, clutching what’s left of his neck. He falls over dead in a matter of moments as his blue blood slowly pulses out across the floor with the remaining beats of his heart. Bella still has that half-crazed look in her eyes as she glances between us. “They will not threaten me in my house.” Her eyes search the entire hall before she turns and smiles at us.

“It’s time.” Before we can stop her, Bella’s shift comes faster than her magic can preserve her clothing and the tatters hit the floor. I can hear the sounds of claws on tile as she runs down the hallway through the castle to the front door. The guards we placed there open the doors wide and once she’s on the front steps facing the direction of the town, Bella lets out the deepest haunting howl that I have ever heard to date come from any wolf in existence. She rips the wolves from us, all four of us joining her howl. I realize now what she’s doing: she’s calling the packs home.

Chapter55

Belladonna

Something deep inside me snaps. It is almost like a crisp break of a stick, the sound that echoes in my mind. Tasting the blood of the Fae prince was like drinking pure ambrosia. As much as I would love to revel in his death and taking back my ancestral home, there’re centuries of wrongs that need to be righted first. I have little choice in the matter when my wolf rips free of my body with the drive to call for the others to come home.
