“Holy crap, that was fast,” I say as we slide in the back seat.

“We’re hot. Cabs always stop for the hot girls.” Carrie smiles at me.

“Where to ladies?” The cab driver asks and I give him the address to Percy’s building. Carrie and I continue to go through all the different possibilities of what Percy could be doing right now. I guess I should call, but I don’t want to give him or anyone he’s with the heads up that they’re about to get caught. Not that he can get caught, he’s not officially mine for me to catch him.

The drive to Percy’s house is short and only serves as time for Carrie to amp me up even more.

We get to his building and the both of us slide out of the cab. I can barely see in front of me. How much did I drink? Now that I’m standing in front of his building all the bravado is slowly starting to seep out of my body.

“Let’s go!” Carrie grabs my arm and we walk into the building like we own the place. It’s so late at night the security guard jerks up from sleep when we come in.

“Excuse me ladies, who are you here to see?”

“Um, Percy Snow. Percival Snow.” I say and a wave of sanity washes over me. What the hell am I doing here?

“Yup! Let’s go.” Carrie barely stops on our way to the elevator.

“Carrie, what are we doing? I shouldn’t be here. This is stupid!” I try to pull her away from the elevator, but Carrie hasn’t come down off her intoxication.

“Get in there. You want him to just be playing you? He could be cheating on you! You need to make sure.” She pulls us so we’re standing in the elevator.

“He’s not even my boyfriend for him to be cheating on me!” I hiss at her.

“I thought you liked him.” Her eyes are glassy and she tilts her head to the side.

“I do… I just …”

Before I can finish my answer the doors to the elevator close and we start rising fast. That can’t be, I haven’t even entered in the code.

“Oh yeah. Operation kick a rich dude’s ass in effect.” Carrie hops on her toes like she’s about to walk into a twelve-round fight.

“Stop, oh God, stop!” I look at the numbers changing on the display letting me know that I’m getting much closer to Percy.

“I’m ready! I can’t get no readier!” Carrie starts shadow boxing and I stare in horror as the numbers keep rising.

“Oh shoot!” Sobriety hits me in the face as the elevator jerks to a stop on Percy’s floor.

“Let’s go!” Carrie stands in the doorway next to me.

The door opens and Percy stands in front of us. His light brown hair is disheveled, his eyes are focused and he’s shirtless.

“Abort!” Carrie dives into Percy’s house like a damn action hero and hides behind a potted plant.

“What the fuck?” Percy slowly turns to look at my highly intoxicated friend.

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. This was stupid. I had way too much to drink and somehow convinced myself that I needed to come here and check … something.” I still haven’t stepped out of the elevator.

“What did you need to check?” Percy’s gaze makes me squirm.

“Nothing. It’s nothing.” My voice is high-pitched.

“The homewrecker you have in your room. Is she tied up to your bed?” Carrie says from behind the plant.

“Shut up!” I snap at her.

“Homewrecker?” Percy asks.

“I know I don’t have any right. We haven’t said anything about exclusivity and I know you can—”
