Both Carrie and I pop up like jackrabbits. Our surprise to hear Percy is only overshadowed by the intense pain the both of us feel from moving too fast.

I hear Percy’s deep laughter in the room, “I’ll take that as a no.”

“What happened? How did I end up in here with Carrie?” I press a hand to my temple and massage slightly.

“What’s the last part you remember?” He looks down at me and even though I expect a little annoyance all I see is that cocky smirk.

“The bar? Carrie and I were talking about you. We caught a cab here. The elevator?” I remember certain things about the night, but most of it is just a big fuzzy mess.

“You both came here looking for …”

“Your mistress! Did we scare her off?” Carrie jumps up to her knees and points at Percy. “I’m telling you right now Mr. Snow you’re on my shit list! You’re going to feel my wrath! You’re …” She turns her head to the side and her eyes squint, “You’re hotter in person. Good job Ella.”

“Oh for Christ’s sake. Who gave you the power of speech?” I push Carrie back onto the bed. “There was no damn mistress,” I remember that part now. I groan as the rest of the night starts coming back to me in waves.

“No, sorry to disappoint,” Percy says.

“No? Hmm, well my bad. I was sure. I’m not sure why I was so sure.” Carrie sits up and looks at Percy. The both of them stare each other down for a few seconds before Carrie speaks again.

“You’re looking at me like I should be ashamed or embarrassed. I promise you I’m not. I’d do it again.” Carrie tilts her head and Percy has no choice but to laugh. I can understand that’s exactly the way I was when I first met Carrie. You just have to love her. There are no other options.

“Carrie, go find food.” I tell her.

“Oh food!” She hops off the bed and walks out of the room on her way to the kitchen.

“Is that all you remember about what happened last night?” Percy climbs on the bed with me and we lay against the headboard.

“Pretty much. I definitely don’t know how I got in the same room as Carrie.” I look at him waiting for him to explain.

“Well it started with me telling you that you won’t be having any more male suitors.” He says with a smirk on his face.

“Male suitors? Who the hell says that? And what makes you think I only want male suitors?” I raise an eyebrow at him.

“Male, female, whoever, there won’t be anyone else.” Not one stitch of a joke on his face.

“I see. Same for you.”

He nods. “After that you and I went to bed. You went to sleep. Then you decided to have sex with me whether I wanted it or not. When I tried to push you off you proceeded to throw up on the side of the bed and tell me I was a bad fuck buddy.” He pulls his lips into his mouth trying to stop the laughter.

I’m sure my jaw has unhinged. “No, there’s no way I did that!”

Percy laughs and pulls me into his arms, “You’re right, you didn’t do that. You did try to have sex with me and if you weren’t so ripped out your mind I would have taken you up on your offer. I had to put you in the room with Carrie just to make sure I didn’t take advantage of you. You’re just too tempting no matter what state you’re in.”

“Oh, I’m so sorry for all that yesterday. I don’t know what the hell came over me. I’d blame it all on Carrie, but I know I had to have some sort of hand in it.”

“I can't say it wasn’t an interesting way to wake up.” He rubs a hand over my leg.

“So are you really okay with all of it?” I shrug, “I mean are you really good with us making this official, because we can take things slow.”

“Slow, no thank you. I want to go full speed ahead. In fact, there’s a benefit tonight. I’d like you to come with me.” His eyes are steady on mine.

“Which benefit?”

“The Lindrant Charity Event”

I jump up and attack him, “Are you kidding me! That ball is more exclusive than the fudging MET gala! How did you even get invited?”

“Ah, well my parents help sponsor it every year.”
