I open my mouth to say something, but I can't get the words to come out. I'm confused as hell since the last time we spoke she told me in finality that she didn't want to give us a try. I'm not sure what she's doing here.

Letting out a rushed breath, "I'm confused." I say.

"Dr. Dracos, have a seat." She says, and I raise an eyebrow at her.

What the hell. Are we really that far gone that she's back to calling me Dr. Dracos? I clench my jaw and press my hands into fists before I sit in my office chair, ready for whatever meeting this is.

I wave my hand for her to continue.

She clears her throat, "I know that you're a very busy man. I've recently been made aware of an opportunity here that I was hoping I could speak with you about."

I squint my eyes at her, trying to figure out exactly what she's getting at. "What opportunity?"

"I was told there was a position opening here, and I was hoping that if you had a chance, you'd be able to look over my CV." She slides me over a real CV and I balk at it while she continues, "I believe that I have more than enough experience to be a good part of your medical team. Also, this seems like the type of place I could become part of the community. Not to mention, it's home to one of the most prolific doctors I've ever had the pleasure to work with."

Her voice is strong. I look from the paper back up to her face and back at the paper.

What the hell. She's asking for her job back? I'm still fucking confused.

"Nurse Thimble. Is this a temp...?" I prod.

"Permanent." She says and gives me a tentative smile.

Permanent. Does she want to stay? I don't know if this means she's going to give us a chance.

I shake my head, annoyed and unsure. Getting up out of my seat, I throw her CV down, round the corner of my desk and stand in front of her. She turns in the chair and faces me.

"Nyla, I need you to be clear here because I'm lost. What are you telling me right now?" I cross my arms.

"I'm saying I want to come home." Tears pop to the corners of her eyes, but she doesn't let them fall. She's breathing hard, and she has her hands twisted in her lap tightly with nerves, "I love you too Nic, so much. I'm sorry I turned you away, but I was scared. I don't want to run from what we have. The only place I want to run is into your arms."

A happiness that surpasses everything I've ever felt bursts in my chest and my heart finally starts its normal pattern. One that whispers her name with every beat. She loves me. My woman loves me.

I put my arms out, "So come home then." I say, and she smiles, finally letting the tears drop from her eyes. She hops out of her seat and starts towards me . My happiness turns to horror as I watch her pass out like a light right in front of me.

I hopethis wasn't all a dream.

I feel like I'm underwater, and I struggle to open my eyes against the sleep that I'm coming out of.

"Get the EKG on first. Now, Nurse Thomas!" I hear Nic screaming. I guess he's back to his douchey ways. I feel bad for that poor patient.

When I feel my shirt being lifted, I realize that I'm the patient they're working on. I force my eyes open, taking a second to get my bearings.

"What are you doing? Get off me." I groan out and start to push the plethora of hands away from me. Both Ardi and Megan are standing in the room with Nic.

"Oh Jesus, Nyla, how do you feel? What's going on?" Ardi asks in a frenzy, still trying to turn the vital's machine on.

"I'm fine, turn that off." I tell Megan, who has just turned the EKG machine on, which caused it to start beeping because the leads are not in place correctly. I go to pull the plug, but Nic stops my hand.

"Stop it, we need to do this."

"Nic, I'm fine. Honestly. Let me up." I try to swing my legs over the side of the bed, but he pushes them back down.

"No, you're not. Something is wrong, Nyla. This is the second time you've just passed out. We can find it and we can fix it. We need to get..." he starts blathering on.
