"Oh, my sister and her best friend love to dress up." I thought about Alice in her prom dress at the speed dating event, and I smiled to myself.

"Okay then. Well, you have a good day, Foster."

"You too, Travis. And I'll have that report to you tomorrow morning."

"Sounds good."

I watched as Travis walked back down the hallway, and I entered my office. I sat down, pulled out my phone, and texted everyone. I was almost positive they'd be happy to attend this event. I just didn't know if it was the best idea for Alice to come, too.

Chapter14

Alice

"Oh my gosh, I cannot believe Foster invited us to a black tie event!" Rosalie squealed in my ear on the phone as I made my way down Fifth Avenue.

"I know, it sounds really cool, but I'm surprised," I said, looking for the coffee shop that Molly had texted me to meet her at.

"We need to go shopping like ASAP," Rosalie said. "I want to get a really amazing dress. And can you believe that his boss is going to be there? The Travis Covington."

"Who's Travis Covington?" I asked, having no idea who she was talking about.

"Alice, you've never heard of Travis Covington?"

"Should I have?"

"He was in that movie with Brad Pitt last year. He's going to be in a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio. He's in that one commercial for, I don't know, bank of something. He's that really tall good-looking guy with a bright blue eyes. He's always wearing like a cool suit with suspenders."

"Oh," I said, vaguely remembering someone similar. "Does he have that jet-black hair?"

"Yeah. He's like the most eligible bachelor in the world or something."

"Wow," I said. "We're going to dinner with him."

"Yeah. It's his table. He's Foster's boss."

"I had no idea," I said, laughing. "Oh my gosh. Wow. That's really cool. I mean, I knew Foster had a good job. I didn't realize he worked with Travis Covington."

"Yeah, it's really cool. That's why my parents are so proud of him and trust him so much. They're always like, 'Be more like your brother'!" Rosalie sighed. "And I mean, I'm proud of him and all, but way to make me look like a loser."

"You're not a loser, Rosalie."

"I mean, I'm a teacher's assistant living with my fiancé."

"Exactly. He's your fiancé, not some rando."

"Yeah, but you know my parents," she said, sighing. "Anyway, it doesn't matter. I'm super excited. We have to look really nice. They're raising money for charity."

I bit down on my lower lip. "Girl, I feel like I am a charity. I am like accepting handouts. He's there and everywhere. I can't afford to be giving any handouts."

"Oh my gosh. Alice, did you not read the message?"

"Not all the way, why?"

"You don't have to pay anything. Travis Covington has reserved a table at the event. It's ten grand a seat, so I think the table was a hundred grand. He just wants to fill the seats, and he's asked Foster to help."

"If he is such an eligible bachelor, why doesn't he know more people?" I asked curiously.

"I don't know. And I don't care," Rosalie said, laughing. "This is going to be the event of the year, and the charity, it's really cool. Some kids at my school are in the program."
