“Don’t beat yourself up over it sweetheart, Creed doesn’t know that Callie and I know. We overheard him and dad fighting about it one night, dad told him that it made him look weak not killing. In truth, if Creed had of done it, we might not be in the position we are in now.”

“Don’t put that on him Cole, he couldn’t have known anything like this would happen. He was just trying to do better than dad––“I cut Callie off.

“Wait, so if Creed let the other alpha’s go then that means they would feel indebted to him then, right?” The five of them have funny looks on their faces but it’s Z that catches on to what I am asking first.

“You might be right, if we can use that to our advantage, we might have a shot. How many alphas would you say Creed has fought?” Zeke asks Cole.

“Including Jacob?” My mouth drops open in shock.

“He fought Jacob?” My voice is high pitched as I ask.

“Uh, yeah?” Cole looks at me like I’m slow.

“Why didn’t he kill him?” I grit out, if the others are shocked by my bloodthirst, they don’t show it.

“Okay first, including Jacob, Z I think he fought around nine. Now, to answer your question love, if he could spare the person he hated most in the name of peace, then other alphas might do the same. Turns out he was wrong and should have just ripped the old fuckers throat out when he had the chance.” I slump back in my chair and remain silent, as the others try to revise a plan, I’m so lost in my own thoughts that I don’t hear him the first time.

Princess? The worry in his voice has me sitting straight.

I’m here, are you okay?

Yeah, I’m fine. What took you so long to answer?

Uh… I was just distracted.I lie not wanting to worry him, I’ll speak with him about what I have learnt later.

Tell your brother it’s clear and to come up to the house.

Okay.

We pull up to the house and I can’t help but stare, it’s like someone entered my mind and used everything I wanted and made it come true. When I was younger, I used to sketch out what my dream house would look like, I drew this exact house pretty much. I see wolves start to come around the front of the house, I scan my eyes over them until I land on Creed’s wolf. He is a giant of a man, and you would think dropping down to four legs would diminish his stature, but it doesn’t. Creed is a regal looking beast and even when he tries not to look daunting, he can’t help it the aura that surrounds him is power and dominance. I don’t see how I am supposed to be this big bad alpha when I want nothing more than to submit to my mate. Sheba scoffs inside my head.

I will not roll over and allow him to lead us.

I don’t want to lead Sheba.

You must!

We’ll talk about this later.

I follow the others out of the car and don’t stop until I’m standing in front of Corbin, Sheba pushes forward and takes partial control. She refuses to drop her gaze from Corbin’s, and I begin to panic that he will view this as a challenge and the last thing I need right now is to be at odds with Corbin. Except… nothing happens. Corbin and I stand there staring but even with Sheba at the forefront I don’t feel the need I used to, the urge to control and dominate isn’t present. Before I can dwell on it too much he turns and heads around the back of the house, I follow Cole and the others inside, we expected to find the house trashed but… nothing is out of the ordinary. Callie takes Sky’s hand, and they check out the back half of the house, Zeke and Cairo search the kitchen, so Cole and I decide to check out the rooms. We all meet back in the living room and the others found the same as we did, everything is fine and not out of order.

“Why the hell didn’t they torch the place?”

“Morbid much sister?” Callie glares at Cole but I ignore them and ask.

“Where is Creed?” Callie and Cole’s faces scrunch until they see the look I shoot them, their eyes drop, and their posture stiffens. “What’s wrong?”

“He’ll probably be at his house…” I choke on air as I stare at the pair of them.

“What does that mean?” Callie meets my gaze, and it annoys me to see sympathy shining in her eyes.

“Creed should fill you in, if you follow the path out the back of this house it will lead you to his. We’ll bring your bags out to you.” I nod and follow her instructions and head out the back to follow the beaten path toward the woods. I don’t know why I am shocked, I guess being with Creed means I’ll learn new things every day. As I break through the dense brush of trees a simple log cabin comes into view, it looks like something out of a story book that I read to Harlem. Two windows in the front with a simple porch and two rocking chairs, the front door is slightly ajar. I take a few deep breaths and roll my shoulders back as I head inside, I push the door open and decide to let myself in. I close the door quietly behind me and spot a small cozy looking kitchen to the left, a lounge room in front of me, my ears perk up at the sound of running water. I follow the sound to the right of the lounge room and down the hallway, I pass by two closed doors and enter the room at the end with the door open. I can tell immediately that this is the master bedroom, Creed’s scent clings to everything in here. I scan the room and see an open wardrobe, my nose gets the better of me, so I take a to peek inside and I’m stunned. I stand here staring with my mouth hanging open, I’m so lost in what I’m looking at I don’t hear him come out of the adjoining bathroom.

“I didn’t want them sitting in boxes.” I spin around and stare at him with tears in my eyes, he stands there with a towel wrapped around his waist and water droplets dripping from his hair, I follow the droplets as they run down his chest––.” You gonna keep checking me out or?” I shake my head and quickly spin around; I feel the heat in my cheeks I don’t know why I am embarrassed after all the things we have done together. I gasp when he warps his arms around my waist and rests his chin on my shoulder.

“Why?”

“Because…” He clears his throat and tries again. “I had always hoped you would come back, or I would find you, so I figured it was a good idea. Are…Are you mad about it?” I turn around and look at him, he seems so unsure, and it warms my heart. I wrap my arms around his neck as he places his hands on my hips. I reach up on tip toes and plant a soft kiss to his lips and pull back. He stares at me like I’m some strange being which causes a smile to stretch across my face.
