“When you are outside the walls of the house,” Noah snapped, “I need to be next to you at all times!”

Her eyes widened at the way he spoke to her. She glimpsed at me, waiting to see how I would react.

I brought my hand to my chin. “He’s right,” I shrugged. “I told you the same thing. Let security do what we hired them to do.”

Noah’s stare turned on me, and his eyes widened. It was easy to see it shocked him I had taken his side. “Miss Ayala, I really want you to stay safe, especially right now.”

Isabelle nodded, resting her hand on her forehead in embarrassment. “Fine, I’m sorry you’re right.” Her skin flushed a bright pink. “I’ll be more careful.”

“It was my fault. I’m sorry.” Laura propped her fists on her hips. “I had the idea to surprise you guys with food and there’s this new place close by…Camelot’s. I thought it would be fine to try it.”

“I understand.” I nodded. “Just please be careful. I know you refuse to have a bodyguard, but you know I have rules while you’re here.”

“I get it.” Laura understood why I needed security, but she never wanted anyone following her. Since Felipe was feasibly monitoring my estate and family, I had hired temporary security to watch over everyone else. Unfortunately, Laura protested to the point I gave in, reluctantly canceling her security detail. “Anyway,” she rolled her eyes, “you guys should come eat before it gets cold.”

Noah smirked, his demeanor becoming instantly friendly. “Thank you… Laura.”

Her gaze met his. She turned crimson as she averted her gaze and patted the messy bun on top of her head. My lips parted a bit in surprise as I was witnessing my baby sister and my fiancée’s bodyguard getting flirty over athank you.

What the fuck?A few awkward, silent seconds passed before I cleared my throat, hoping to wash everyone’s minds of the encounter. “We’ll be out soon and thank you.”

Isabelle darted her eyes back and forth at Laura and Noah before they found mine. She bit her bottom lip, attempting to hide that familiar smile. I cocked my head, arching a brow as I knew the wild thoughts running around in her mind. I shook my head subtly as possible. With a faint nod, she nudged Laura, and they exited the room quietly, leaving the door open.

Joseph stepped over and closed it, then leaned on the wall, crossing his arms as he stared at Noah. William and I turned our attention to him as well. He did not notice all eyes were on him as he was gnawing the inside of his cheek, staring toward the door. We waited a few moments until he sensed the atmosphere in the room and jerked his body toward us. Embarrassment covered his face.

“Were you just checking out my sister?” Glowering, I slid my hands in my pockets.

Shaking his head, he opened his mouth, but snapped it closed just as fast.

Joseph smirked. “Yes, it’s probably best not to talk.”

William, unable to contain himself, let out a loud laugh. “I have to say, you get points for that level of bravery.”

Without another word, I sat down in my chair and rolled it under my desk. Noah shifted his weight, knowing he had been called out. Joseph concealed his smile and adjusted his posture.

“Anyway, can we please get back to the important shit?”

I opened my laptop and pulled up the security camera tabs to see if I could find footage of Felipe anywhere. Noah strode around to my side of the desk, leaning over me. Without asking permission, he swiveled my laptop screen toward him. He typed for a few moments, launching random screens and putting in codes on what appeared to be encrypted files. I was sitting there watching him hack my computer and was unsure if I was okay with it. However, when he stopped, he faced the laptop back toward me and patted me on the shoulder confidently.

“Never touch me again. You know the rules.”

William stepped closer, crouching over us. “It looks like he’s visiting someone in the neighborhood.”

I leaned even closer, studying the footage Noah had just extracted in seconds, which showed Felipe driving on my street at various times and days.

“Not visiting.” Noah chimed in, taking a stepped toward my desk again and paused, holding his hands out. “May I?”

Arching a brow, I threw out one of my hands. “I think you might, anyway.”

Subtly, he rolled his eyes as he launched a separate window on the laptop. “He lives right here now.” He touched the screen and stretched the photo with his fingers. Then dragged it to the information. “He is renting a home at the other end of the street.”

I pushed away, running my fingers through my hair as I stood. Furious, I marched to the window, peering out at the estate garden. Clenching my fist, I tapped it on the window, refraining from punching through it in a rage. “I’m going to fucking murder him tonight.” Heaving the back door open, I stomped out onto the porch, patting my pockets but had no cigarettes. William stepped outside and handed me one of his and a lighter.

Noah leaned in the doorway, arms crossed high on his chest. “I know you’re not going to want to hear this, but he doesn’t know that we have eyes on him. I think we should watch him for a while before you kill him.”

“He’s right.” Joseph slipped by Noah and came out onto the patio. “As much as it pains me to not to go after him, I think we need to watch him for a few days.”

I took a long drag of my cigarette and let the grey smoke drift from my lips, dancing away in the wind. I hated the thought that Felipe was possibly watching our every move. I stuck the vice to my lips again, inhaling deeper.
