“We tried that.” I turned around, holding my hair up.

He unzipped my dress and gipped my hips, bringing his lips to the back of my neck. “Mmm, but I mean a real vacation where no one gets killed.”

I snorted. “Is that even possible?”

I tried to step away to remove my dress, but he jerked me back against his body, pressing himself into my bottom. A small shiver inched up my spine as his warm breath tantalized my senses, forcing goosebumps to erupt on my body.

“I’m taking you somewhere no one would suspect.” He slipped the thin straps down, kissing each shoulder gently. “How do you feel about my home?”

I gasped, spinning around on my heels. My dress crumble to the floor. “Italy?”

He nodded as his gaze lowered to my chest. “Yes.” He lifted his eyes back to mine. “I need about a week to get some work done in the office then we can go. As long as your doctor clears you for travel.”

“Tuesday, yes.”

He held up his index finger before pushing the side of his watch.Yes?He rolled his eyes, taking a deep breath.Give me a second and I’ll meet you down there.“Bella, I have to go handle something.”

“I figured by your conversation with your watch.”

A low chuckle reverberated in his chest as he marched over to one of his racks of more casual clothes. The moment I saw him change from his sweatpants to black jeans, I knew what was about to happen. He was quite particular about what he chose to wear whilehandling thingsin the basement.

He gave me one quick kiss as he hurried out of the room, closing the door behind him. Ambling to the bathroom to brush my teeth, I stopped in the middle of the bedroom in front of the full-length mirror, running my palm over my barely visible bump.

The way I was growing, I was going to look pregnant in all my wedding photos, or we would need to postpone it. I took a step toward the bathroom, but the bedroom door opened once again and I spun around on my heels to see Valentino’s head poking through one of the double doors.

“You scared me.”

“Have your dress back on when I return.”

I titled my head. “Huh?”

“I told you I was going to rip it off you. I intend to keep my word.”

“Can I go get some juice or something at least?”

He nodded. “But be back in here by the time I’m done.”

“Yes, sir.” I grinned.

He pointed at me. “Don’t start that shit right now. I have to go.”

I giggled as he disappeared, closing the doors together. Sauntering into the closet, I put on my dress once again, twisting and turning to zip it back up. After an unnecessary struggle, I finally got it to the top of my upper back. I turned in the mirror, making sure I got it all the way up. Mildly out of breath from the mini-battle I just had, I huffed and headed for the kitchen.

Instead of using the elevator, I opted for the stairs. The moment, my toe touched the foyer floor, I heard the familiar voice of a someone I did not expect. I rounded the corner facing the formal living room, seeing Valentino’s younger brother, Alessandro, on his phone. He was pacing the room, speaking Italian with an angry tone.

Oh, Lord. I sighed to myself deciding to sneak by the large archway.

“Isabelle!”

I pivoted around, a tight-lipped smile on my face. “Hi, Alessio.”

He held his arms out to the side. “You’re just going to speed by and not come say hello?”

“I didn’t know you were here.” I sauntered into the room, giving him a quick hug.

He slid his phone into his inside jacket pocket before leaning over, giving both my cheeks a single kiss. He took a step back, putting a few feet of distance between us. His phone rang, but reached in his pocket, silencing it.

“I’m the reason my brother is downstairs.”
