I rolled my eyes, nodding as I refused to fight with Marco at the moment. Spinning around, we continue down the narrow corridor. Just then, a loud wail echoed through the building and William pushed past me, sprinting toward the sound.

I threw my hands in the air and called out in a loud whisper, “Wait, William, wait!”

He did not stop so Marco and I took off after him.

“You fucking bitch!” Felipe bellowed, “Where is Isabelle?!”

“Leave her the fuck alone!” William shouted as he entered the large, open room where Felipe stood over Tanya.

I appeared behind William but checked over my shoulder to see Marco was nowhere to be found. I cannot say that I was shocked. I was fairly sure this was a set up and he was a part of this. I did not trust him one bit.

William reached back, drawing his gun at the same time Felipe slid over behind Tanya and knelt next to her, holding a knife to her neck. Tanya yelped and wept, begging for him to stop.

“I wouldn't do that if I were you!” Felipe challenged William.

“Let her go!” William shouted.

Felipe taunted him, “Oh, is this your little slut?”

“Liam!” Tanya cried out. “Please just kill him!”

Felipe let out a menacing laugh but suddenly became serious, pressing the knife to her neck. A small drop of blood appeared on her skin, running down into her dress. I quietly but rapidly began assessing my next move.

“I will fucking kill her if you don't shoot her yourself or slide your gun to me so I can!”

Felipe could not see my gun as I was behind William. I caught movement in my peripheral vision above Felipe. I noticed Marco peeking through a large hole in a brick pillar from the second floor platform. William must have seen him too because at that moment he held his gun in the air and showed Felipe that he was surrendering.

“Okay, okay,” William announced, “I’m laying it down, just don’t hurt her anymore.”

He kicked the gun over to Felipe who picked it up immediately, guffawing. William took a step back and glanced at Tanya who was cowered over crying. A few pebbles fell from the bricks above, causing Felipe to jerk his head up. He aimed, firing up at Marco. William took wide, quick strides over, yanking Tanya her out of his reach.

“You fucking idiot!” Felipe pointed the gun at Tanya, but William pushed her to the ground just as Felipe fired toward them.

I drew my gun, firing three shots toward Felipe as that was all I had left. He took off racing out of a side door, but I know at least two of the bullets hit him.

“No no no!” Tanya sat up, shaking William, screaming, “Oh my God!”

I heard six more gun shots in the distance, outside the building. I lunged over to William and dropped to my knees.

Tanya held his head, sobbing as she screamed, “Please don’t die!” She rested her forehead on his chest, shrieking into his lifeless body, “Liam! No! Get up!”

“Move!” I harshly nudged her out of the way and bent over, gripping him as hard as I could. I picked him up, throwing him over my shoulder and glanced at Tanya. “Can you walk?”

She nodded through her sniffles.

“I need you to be strong and walk, Tanya, can you do that for me?”

She nodded, taking several steps, and stumbled. Marco appeared in the room seeing that she was struggling and caught her, scooping her up. We promptly moved as fast as we could to the car.

It was a long, painful walk for everyone, but we made it. Tanya sat in the back seat with William’s head in her lap. Marco sat in the passenger seat as I sped back to the hospital where Isabelle was.

I heard Tanya's weeping in the back seat as she pleaded for William’s life under her breath. I glanced at Marco and nodded. He reached back, taking William's wrist, pausing for a few moments as he stared at his watch. Turning back to me, he blinked his eyes but said nothing. Fortunately, it was so late by this point that there was minimal traffic on the road so I raced as swiftly as I could.

We pulled in front of the hospital. Marco and I rushed in, carrying them. The receptionist called to the back and hospital staff ran out to immediately get them. I stepped over to the desk and the security guard's eyes lit up the moment he saw me.

“Joseph!” he gasped.

I nodded, “Would you please show us to Isabelle Ayala's room please?”
