Suddenly my vision caught movement in the doorway as a blur came toward me in what seemed to be slow motion. I blinked twice more, and the fuzziness started to take shape. Valentino! He had come for me! I became excited, unsure if my expression showed it.

He pulled up a chair, sitting quickly. Gently, he took my hand kissing it then held it against his lips. I smiled, at least I think I smiled, so happy to see him. I winced as my face hurt with movement. He turned my hand over and frowned at my palm.

“Bella,” he sighed, tearing up, “I am so very sorry.”

I tried to shake my head but was not sure if it was moving. “It's ok,” I whispered.

He looked up at my doctor, inquiring, “Is she really going to be okay?”

My eyes slowly found her, focusing.

“Yes, but she has a lot of glass in her that we need to get out.” She glanced at me and slightly smiled. “She needs to let my nurse touch her for this.”

Valentino smirked as his eyes fell on mine, “Well, I will sit here with her while he does his job, if that’s okay with her?”

I nodded as best as I could.

He faced the doctor, explaining, “She's been through a lot as you can see.”

I tugged on his hand.

He immediately met my gaze with concern, “What is it, bella?”

“Fe...Fel..,” I could not get the name out.

He nodded, “I know, darling.”

“Is Tanya okay?”

“You rest and we will talk in a bit, my love,” he avoided the topic, but I was assuming it was because of the doctor.

I gasped, “Joseph!”

“Isabelle," he soothed, placing his hand gently on my cheek. “Rest.”

My eyes fell closed as I felt a presence on the other side of me.

He spoke to Valentino directly. “I'm going to give her some antibiotics and pain medication in her IV. We cannot fully sedate her to remove the glass. I will get out what I can, but the glass will continue to push itself out of her over time.”

He continued to speak to Valentino as I felt the pain medication kick in. I started to slip into a light sleep as they conversed.

The doctor filled me in on Isabelle's injuries while she checked her eyes. She informed me that she would be okay to sleep since her eyes were reacting to light and she was able to speak. She had hit her head on a blunt object which meant she did not get stabbed in the head with glass, thankfully. She got knocked out and did not pass out from blood loss as I thought. Head injuries were prone to bleed more, and always looked worse than they were.

The doctor left us alone after we chatted for a few more moments about her care. I buried myself in my phone after I saw Isabelle had fully fallen asleep. The nurse continued to extract small pieces of glass out of her body.

Now that I knew Isabelle was okay, I wanted to hear news from anyone about what was going on elsewhere. I texted William, Marco, Joseph, and Tanya. I exhaled, as I waited for a reply.

Isabelle stirred. I scooted my chair closer to her, resting my head next to hers on the pillow. I was scared to touch her, but I placed my hand on her stomach and closed my eyes.

I managed to track down Felipe and Tanya to an old abandoned warehouse near the club. Watching carefully, I crept to an opening I saw on the side of the building. Slipping between the broken and jagged bricks, I made my way into a dark hallway.

My vision was limited due to the lack of light. I heard a female voice screaming for help, so I followed it. I knew it was Tanya. As I got closer to the sound, I felt the presence of someone behind me just as they touched my shoulder. I grabbed their wrist, twisting myself around.

“Fuck!” William hissed. “It's me!"

I darted my eyes back and forth between him and Marco. “You brought him?!”

“I fucking hate Felipe,” Marco grumbled, “and I want him dead!”
