“Just okay?” he countered, as if I insulted him. “And here I thought I provided you with everything to make you more than justokay.”

“I mean,” I sighed, “it was extremely comfortable, thank you. I just was taken by surprise by coming here.” Even though I was unsure if I should continue, I took a chance anyway. “I just have so many questions to be honest, but I’m kind of scared.”

He slowly rocked forward in his desk chair, propping up on his elbows. I could tell he was observing me thoroughly, studying every movement I made. After a few moments of silence, he stood, taking a few short strides to me. Delicately, he ran his fingers up and down my arm as I continued to stare forward, frozen in fear. Leaning close to my neck, he began to inhale my scent.

“Why are you scared?” he taunted, circling me like a predator moving in on his prey.

“Do you not understand how scary it is to be auctioned off for sex,” I choked, barely above a whisper, “especially when you've never done it?”

He sighed deeply as he continued to stalk around me.

I was becoming increasingly terrified. “Human trafficking is horrible,” I mumbled, the shakiness in my voice evident.

Instantly, he came to a halt, freezing in front of me. Leaning in close to my face, he growled, “No one is shipping you off to be a sex slave.”

I shivered nervously, blinking back tears. A slight aroma of mint and liquor drifted from his breath to my face.

He placed his finger under my chin, lifting my gaze to his. I gulped as I peered into his eyes. He barely circled his thumb on my jaw for a moment before he let go, dropping his hands to his side and backing away. Spinning around, he took a few steps away then turned back to face me.

“No one is trafficking you so I would watch the terms you use around me,” he suddenly snapped.

I gasped, hearing his accent suddenly change. He had only a hint of an American accent now. I could not place the origin because he was still masking his speech.

Bracing myself, I decided to push more buttons so I could learn more about the mysterious man. I had to know what was going on, and this may have been the only way. Something was not right. The sharp edge of fight or flight filled me. If nothing else, at least I may have more answers after this.

“Just force me to sleep with you so we can get this over with and I can go home,” I provoked, quaking anxiously.

He chuckled humorously, but he was now fuming as he called my bluff. Marching to his desk, he fell back into his chair, sliding forward. I felt his glare, as his mood shifted with great intent to harm me.

“Sit!”

I caught a glimpse of two chairs next to me. Reaching out, I grabbed the arm of the chair on the right, slowly perching on the edge. I steadied myself, not wanting to get too comfortable. I was unsure of how to behave in the presence of him.

“I’m sure you would like to know how much you will be paid for our arrangement.” His strange American accent returned.

“I don't even care,” I stammered, ready to be alone. “Do whatever you want to me and keep the money because I just want to be alone right now.”

“And why is that?” he placed his arms on the desk, locking his fingers together. “All women want my money.”

Ignoring his statement, I questioned bluntly, “Why am I blindfolded, Your Majesty?”

Leaning back in his chair, he formed a triangle over his mouth before he dropped his hands to the arm rests.

“Your Majesty?”

I shrugged as I peered around the large room with a hindered view, “You live in a castle, don’t you?”

The smirk disappeared as he pursed his lips. Leaning forward, he propped on his elbows.

“I don't want you to see me.”

“And why is that?” I challenged. “Are you ugly?”

Throwing his head back he stared at the ceiling. Sighing audibly, he lowered his gaze on me once again. “Absolutely not,” he argued, “I am quite charming.”

“And how am I supposed to know?”

“You will just have to trust me I guess then, won’t you.”
