Looking forward to our date. Pick you up at 6pm? -V

The thought never occurred to me that it might be a formal date! Oh my God! My mouth dropped open, remembering the mansion and Sir. It was still awkward referring to him as that, but I had yet to learn his name. I had not contacted him yet. I suddenly felt so naive.

Why did I think it would be okay to go to dinner with another man that I could never have a future with? I would be wasting his time. I had made a promise to Sir regardless of the contract. He trusted me. I knew he would find out. Sighing, I decided to text him, asking for permission even though I knew it was not sleeping with anyone. It was just dinner, right? Yet, I still felt guilty.

Hi, I'm sure you're going to be upset but I was asked out on a date tomorrow night :/

Moments later he replied,And what did you say?

Nothing yet. I wanted to text you first :)

I sighed, unsure how he would respond.

As long as you do not give him what is mine, I don't see the problem.

I could not tell from the text if he was mad.

I didn't plan on it but like no physical stuff, right?

Didn't you read the contract thoroughly?

Okay okay, got it. It's just dinner. He's way too good for me anyway, lol

Five minutes of silence came and went. Finally, he replied,One day you'll see your worth. Have fun on your date and behave.

I then scrolled over to Valentino's text, responding to him:

That's perfect. See you then :)

I finished up a couple of hours of work and it was time to go home. Ever since I got back from having coffee with Isabelle, I had been sitting in my office at my desk, both of my phones in front of me. I stood, smiling while sliding both of them into my jacket pocket. As I headed to the elevator, I waved at the receptionist. The moment the doors opened, Tanya came barreling out pointing at me.

“We need to talk!” she declared sternly, poking me in the chest.

My security team made an attempt to step between us, but I put my hand in the air. “Let her speak.”

Tanya crossed her arms, huffing, “I’m so upset with you right now!”

“We will be in my office for a little while,” I glanced at my team, informing them. “Please wait out here.”

Gripping Tanya’s forearm, I firmly escorted her to my office, slamming the door the instant we stepped in. She became a statue the moment she realized we were completely alone. She gulped, unsure what to do.

“What did she tell you?” I interrogated.

I veered around her, perching on the edge of my desk, crossing my arm disapprovingly. Tanya rested her hand on her chest, inhaling deeply with her eyes closed. I cocked my head as she slowly opened her eyes, focusing on me.

“What the fuck are you talking about?” she sighed.

Confused I blurted, “Wait, what areyoutalking about?”

“I haven't spoken to her,” she muttered, averting her gaze to the floor. “I betrayed her, or so she thinks.”

“No, you actually helped save her,” I sighed.

She lifted her head, looking at me as she nervously shuffled her feet.

“Tanya, you were asked to help because someone is after her,” I admitted. “I was asked to protect her, and the masquerade was the only way. Though you didn’t exactly know why you were getting her there, you knew what I wanted you to know.”

“What?” she hissed.
