Felipe was the first to order. “Vodka Martini, wet,” he winked, “up, with a twist.”

She playfully giggled at the word, wet, before turning her attention to me. “And you, Mr. Greco?”

“How do you know who I am?”

Nodding her head up toward the television on the wall, my gaze followed. Rolling my eyes, I sighed.

“Everyone knows you are,” she confirmed cheerfully. “Now, what can I get you?”

Pursing my lips, I gnawed the inside of my cheek as my gaze met hers. “Whiskey, neat.”

She smiled, nodding as she flipped her ponytail around then pranced off to the bar. Felipe made himself comfortable as he cocked his head, watching her. Rolling my eyes, I cleared my throat, peeling his attention away from the barely legal waitress.

“Oh, sorry,” he chuckled evilly, giving me his undivided attention. “Tell me Valentino, how is it going with my daughter?”

I thought about this question, unsure of how to reply. Snickering to myself,I rehearsed my sarcastic answer in my head.Well I fucked the shit out of your daughter, and she screamed my name.

He glowered almost as if he could read my mind. He pulled a cigar out of his pocket and lit it.

“She is safe and happy,” I smiled, omitting the sexual details, but also not lying. “I’m keeping an eye on her as best as I can.”

He nodded, puffing his cigar in my direction.

Fanning away the cloud, I affirmed, “So far, no harm has come to her and I will continue to do my job.”

“Good,” he grinned, pinning the cigar between his teeth.

The waitress returned with our drinks. She made eye contact with me and smirked as she flirtatiously smiled. She glanced down at her chest, hoping my eyes would follow.

“Mmm,” Felipe moaned, “you should come work for me.”

She playfully smirked at him as he reached over, grabbing her backside before she paraded away. She gave us one last glimpse before she disappeared behind a wall. My eyes instantly lowered on my drink as I was not interested in her in the least. My only focus was at my house. Isabelle’s beauty was unmatched, in my opinion.

“Well,” Felipe sighed, “I wanted to talk to you today because I am going to void our agreement.”

Did I hear him correctly? This was incredible! I could finally be with her without any issues. Of course, his words fell silent as he puffed on his cigar, waiting for me to understand he was not finished. A part of me thought maybe this was a test to see my reaction.

There was a catch. Of course, there was a catch. Felipe was as complicated as I was. None of his statements were ever that black and white. I lit a cigarette as I waited for his cloud of smoke to clear the air. Before I uttered a word, he continued.

“Tell me, Valentino,” he requested alarmingly. It was never good when someone started a sentence this way. “Has my daughter given you any trouble at all?” he chuckled. “You can be honest. After all, look at me.” He held his arms out with pride, as if he were expecting me to both admire and worship him.

“No,” I murmured, taking a drag of my cigarette. “She's been no trouble whatsoever.”

“Good,” he paused then repeated. “Good.”

“Can I ask why the meeting?”

“Has my daughter dated anyone since she has been in your care?” he wondered as he studied my every movement.

“She's not had time,” I muttered, half truthful. I continued as I knew he was looking for a better answer, “I gave her a job at my company, and she will be starting this Monday.”

He smiled, nodding as he seemed satisfied with the information before suspicion swept across his face. “Does she know who you are?”

I decided to dig my grave a little deeper. “She knows who I am,” I smirked, “but she doesn’t know that it is me who is watching her.”

Quizzically, he tilted his head.

“I figured what better way to watch her, than to have her work for me without knowledge of our arrangement.” I smiled, “However I am now guessing that the arrangement is over, and she will live her life freely.”
