He threw his head back and guffawed, then froze, lowering his gaze to mine. The few other patrons in the restaurant darted their eyes in our direction trying to pinpoint the ruckus from his laugh that reverberated through the bar. I chugged the rest of my drink then took a long, slow drag of my cigarette.

“I am right, aren't I?” I muttered as the smoke drifted from my mouth.

He slowly lowered his eyes, peeking over the top of the sunglasses he never removed. “I have another plan,” he confessed in a sinister tone.

I did not like the sound of that. In fact, I was starting to become extremely nervous. I fumed, assuming the worst at this point. He held his hand up to the waitress, signaling for another round of drinks. She nodded, smiling in her signature flirtatious manner as she acknowledged him then spun to make our refills.

“Care to share?” I requested, drawing his attention back to the table.

“Of course,” he snickered, “You have done good for her, but now I’m turning her care over to my top guy.”

“I'm sorry,” I choked as I lit a new cigarette. “What?!”

He bobbed his head, sneering, “You didn't think I would expect you to watch her, forever did you?” His grin grew wider, “You are a busy, rich rich rich man, and I have no doubt that my daughter is probably a big cock block for you. Women would kill to have one night with you.”

Your daughter is the reason my cock is happy, I thought to myself. “I can handle my own affairs, I assure you,” I did not want to sound too desperate. “Isabelle is safe, and I know her routine. I know her inside and out.”Literally, I chuckled to myself. “Why change it?”

“I have made an arrangement with Xavier,” he informed, “the young man you saw back at your estate.”

I took a gulp of my drink.

He grinned broadly, “They are to be wed in six months!”

I choked, spitting my liquid back into my glass. “What the hell Felipe?! Are you fucking serious?!”

He leaned forward, laughing loudly once again, “I know, right? He's perfect for my princess!” He inhaled deeply before continuing, “He brings in so much money for my business and that way, I can keep an eye on things. She will be able to travel with us.”

Someone was about to die, and it was not me! I clenched my jaw as I squeezed my glass to the point of almost shattering it in my hand. His gaze met mine as he smiled. I furrowed my brow before forcing a fake grin. The other part of me was about two seconds from reaching in my waistband, pulling my gun, and killing this bastard. I chugged the rest of my second drink before placing my glass on the table.

“So, what happens now?” I snapped, showing a tinge of anger.

“She will stay with you through next week,” he proclaimed, “and then she will be with him full time.”

I inhaled my cigarette deeply as I focused my gaze on the table. I did not want to make any sudden movements or say the wrong thing yet. However, I was beginning to think he was enjoying every moment of this. Something told me he was suspicious about Isabelle and myself or he was testing me.

“I will send for her.”

He pulled our contract out of his trench coat pocket, holding it in front of me. Picking my lighter up off the table, he placed it on the bottom of the paper by our signatures. The moment he lit it, fire began to spread rapidly. I watched in awe, hypnotized by the reflection of the flame in his sunglasses.

My thoughts drifted as I imagined him being burned alive before my eyes. I would enjoy every moment of watching his flesh completely melt as he screamed before his nerves were shut down. Morbid? Only when it came to people messing with someone I care about. I would go to any length to keep her to myself while also making sure she remained safe.

Yes, I considered myself quite possessive, but what her father was doing was wrong. He had just made an enemy. He was smart and powerful, but he did not have what I did,his daughter. She wasmineand I was not about to give her up to some kid.

The fire dwindled to nearly nothing. He shook his hand as it had gotten a bit hot next to the flame. I rolled my eyes, hoping there would be no further conversation today. I yearned to get home to Isabelle, making sure she was okay and planning my next move.

“Are you ready to go?” he scowled as he handed me his keys. “You drive.”

Nodding,I took the keys from him and we made our way to the car. I drove the entire way back to my estate in complete silence. I had to come up with a plan to get Isabelle away from everything, but I was unsure how I would be able to flawlessly execute it. I would need to meet with my guys the minute we got back after Felipe and his crew left the grounds.

The moment we returned home, we made our way back to my office. Xavier stood with a smug expression on his face in the corner. I glared directly at him. He frowned in return, matching my expression. Pursing my lips, I slightly exhaled as I perched on the edge of my desk, crossing my arms over my stomach.

“We must be on our way,” Felipe reached out his hand to shake mine.

I reluctantly obliged as I glanced at William and Blaine. They were visibly bothered. The three of us shared an unspoken conversation with our eyes before I glanced at Joseph who was observing each person in the room with great purpose.

We escorted Felipe and his men to the foyer. He shook my hand again before we shared one last goodbye. The moment I closed the door behind them, I leaned on it, exhaling.

“Isabelle, get up!” Valentino harshly commanded as he marched into the room, slamming the door behind him with such a force, I jumped.
