I nodded but not in agreement. It was just to acknowledge his news. Nothing could prepare me for their arrival. I wanted to see Tanya and I missed her, but I was still quite nervous. I had to trust him. I took a few deep breaths, trying not to overreact and maintain a sense of coolness about it.

Just then, there was a knock at the bedroom door.I crawled back into bed, hiding my naked body underneath the blankets. Valentino stood, sliding on a pair of pants then strode over to the door.He opened it and sauntered to the middle of the room, allowing Joseph and a man I had never seen before to enter.

“Did William call you?” Joseph inquired, crossing his arms over his chest.

Valentino nodded, pursing his lips then lifted his hand to his chin in thought, “He did.”

Joseph turned his attention to me, teasing, “Will there be any running this morning, Miss Ayala?”

I giggled, challenging him. “Would you like to?”

“Yes Joseph,” Valentino chimed in, “let's go running.”

He nervously rubbed the back of his neck, mumbling, “If that's what you both want.”

My eyes darted back and forth between them.

“I know you hate it so much,” Valentino admitted.

“Oh God,” I gasped, apologizing, “now I feel so bad!”

Valentino snorted at my response. “The day you made him run in the park,” he recalled, “he was dying afterward even though he's in shape.”

Joseph rolled his eyes, shrugging, “I just hate it.”

“I’m so sorry.”

Valentino smirked and Joseph winked, indicating it was okay.

“Boss,” he addressed Valentino directly in a rather serious tone, “may I please speak to you in private after breakfast?”

Valentino nodded, becoming instantly serious.

Joseph and the other man, who never spoke, exited the room without another word.

I turned to see Isabelle with her arms crossed over her chest clutching the blanket that had been hiding her naked body. Now was the time to discuss Tanya and William's role in my so-called game. The last person I wanted her upset with was her best friend. She was innocent and I needed Isabelle to know that. This, however, would make me look unbelievably bad. But she deserved the truth. She cared about Tanya and I knew she felt the same about Isabelle. They had an unbreakable bond. Sitting next to her on the bed, I sighed deeply.

“What's up?”

“I need to tell you more about Tanya.”I took a deep breath.“After all, she is your best friend and played a role in this for me.”

She dropped her arms, scowling at me knowingly. The blanket somewhat shifted, exposing her left breast.I smirked when my eyes found it immediately. She glanced down, rolling her eyes while slightly smiling, but still maintaining her frown.

“Yeah but I don't know what to think right now,” she finally whispered.

“God baby,” I dropped my head, taking her hands in mine as I turned my body completely toward her.“I--,” I lowered my eyes to the floor, pausing before meeting her gaze once again

“Just say it,” she sighed, seemingly staring directly into my soul.

“I was so desperate to protect you, that I staged your bid with her help,” I bluntly confessed.

She tilted her head, raising her eyebrows, “What do you mean?”

I groaned, closing my eyes, knowing that I was about to possibly undo everything I had done so far.All the trust I had built with her was about to go out the window.I could not risk the lie any longer and I wanted her to know everything, every single dirty detail.

"Valentino?"she whispered.

“I paid Tanya to lure you to the masquerade ball,” I blurted.
