Her eyes widened and she balled her mouth up.

“Please let me finish,”I pleaded, placing my hand on my forehead.

She huffed, fixing the blanket to cover her once again as she crossed her arms, glaring at me.

I rested my hand on her thigh over the blanket, continuing, “She was dating Liam.I knew you were her best friend.”

“Hmm,” she hummed, wondering where I was going with this.

“I knew I could protect you better if you were with me,” I sighed.

“But, I’m so confused.”

“I held the ball and auction as means to keep a closer eye on you,” I confessed. “At least this one anyway.”

“So, you staged the auction?” she confirmed, narrowing her eyes. “Those girls are safe?"

I swallowed hard, “Uh, they signed up for that and--."

“You purposely humiliated me in front of hundreds of people!”she shouted then stood.

She started to pace the floor in front of me. I could not help but take notice of her picture-perfect naked body, but I was trying my best to focus on the seriousness of the discussion. She spun to look at me, catching me staring.

She rolled her eyes, marching to her bag, pulling out a little black dress and lace thong. Her anger once again showed as she pivoted toward me, focusing on my eyes.

“Continue!”she snapped, throwing her arms up, gesturing before she crossed them impatiently.

“You have to know,” I declared as I stood, facing my palms toward her, “Tanya did not want to do it and she argued it, but Liam demanded she do it for me. We all knew the masquerade was the only way.”

Isabelle tilted her head, glowering.

This was beginning to sound worse and I was not sure how to make it sound at all appealing.I was not always good with words. While I had no problem getting women, talking to them was another story. It was hard for me to articulate my words with them. However, I continued as I looked Isabelle in the eyes.

“She did not even want the money,” I admitted, “but I made her take it. I knew you would listen to her.”

She inhaled deeply, averting her gaze.

“I had to do what I needed to protect you,” I pleaded, which I was not used to doing.

“You did not answer my question, Valentino!” she protested loudly.

“The women know why they are there,” I explained, understanding exactly what she wanted to know.“They are auctioned off for a night with a wealthy man and most of the time they turn into, what you would call, aSugar Baby.”

A look of disgust replaced her look of anger. She took a step backwards, then froze, “Wait!” she retorted as a tear rolled down her cheek. “What the hell do you mean, most of the time?”

I sighed, “I--.” I tried to speak but fell silent.

Taking a step closer to me, she clenched her fists, growling, “Are you telling me that wasn't the first time?”

I hung my head in complete shame, unable to find the words to defend myself.

“Valentino,” she hissed, “how many women have you paid for sex?” Crossing her arms, she waited impatiently for me to reply.

I took a deep breath, slowly meeting her scowling glare, “Six.”

She shook her head as she let out a disbelieving huff.Biting her bottom lip, she rolled her eyes. I thought she was going to snap. The expression on her face was extremely disapproving and made me feel utterly ashamed of my past.

“Why? You're so sexy!” she contested. “Why do you need to pay for sex? Look at you!”
