He chuckled amusingly, “About what?”

“Me.” I smirked. I was going to get this man to open up if it took years.

“Listen,” he murmured, sauntering to the kitchen while I followed him. He continued on the way, "I know you want info and I will tell you what I’m allowed to share with you.”

He poured us both a glass of water then slid one across the counter to me.

“Why are you so nice to me?”

He placed his glass on the kitchen island, smiling, “I think you're good for him.”

“For Valentino?”

He nodded as he took another sip of water.

“He seems more stressed with me around.”

He crossed his arms, snickering, “No more stressed than normal.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Okay okay, maybe a little more stressed,” he admitted, “but that's because he cares about you.”

I could not hold back my grin, then I thought about him storming out of the bedroom and I became serious once again. Joseph read my mind, sighing.

“None of us will allow Felipe to hurt you. You are safe here.”

I nodded, awkwardly sipping my water, suddenly becoming shy.

He continued explaining, “I know this whole plan was a bit off the wall and extreme,” he smiled, “but he is usually right about things.”

I took a long, slow, deep breath. Just as I opened my mouth to reply, Joseph's phone rang.

He held his index finger up, whispering, “Hold that thought.”

Yes?

Okay.

Yes.

She’s right here.

Let me know when you find him.

My eyes became the size of saucers as I waited impatiently for him to hang up the phone so I could question him. His eyes met mine and he guiltily blushed.

I have to go. Just keep me posted.

I crossed my arms suspiciously as he hung up.

“Wait,” I snapped, “he actually left withoutanysecurity?!”

He shook his head then buried his forehead in his fingers, “We will find him, don't worry.” He was trying to be comforting but I could tell that he was exceedingly nervous.

I snapped, “Don’t lie to me!”

I left the kitchen, marching toward the living room with Joseph following behind me. Now, I was extremely worried for his safety, especially knowing that my uncle was somewhere out there possibly hunting us down. Joseph grabbed my arm then placed his hands on my shoulders slightly squeezing, but not enough to hurt me.
