More crashing sounds fill the line, and I have to pull the speaker from my ear.
“What is it, Mia?” Christian demands harshly.
I open my mouth to respond when I feel an arm wrap around my waist, and a hand goes over my mouth. I scream into the palm of the stranger’s hand as they snatch my phone.
“You should have minded your own business, Mia.” I freeze up at the sound of the voice. I know that voice. It haunts my nightmares constantly. Federico Gheata. “Now I’m going to have to make sure you are punished right alongside your little friend,” he snickers venomously.
What does he mean ‘alongside your little friend’? Is he talking about Blake?
“Boss?” someone else calls out, their voice also familiar, but I don’t get to see who it is before everything goes dark.

CHRISTIAN
(Happening in the same time frame.)
Standing next to Leo, I barely contain my anger. Someone is playing with fire, and it’s a good thing Mia has Blake out of the house. Theo is going berserk right now. Then again, she might be able to save my friend from destroying the meeting room.
Right before Gillian was leaving—finally—intel came in, and we stopped her from leaving the party too soon. That doesn’t mean when I stepped outside, I didn’t see her throw herself at Theo and kiss him.
Fucked up part is she latched herself to him like a fucking leech. If Theo knew what I did at the time, he’d have tossed her ass to the ground instead of prying her off him and setting her to the side none too gently. Now he’s flipping his shit.
Gillian thought she was smart but not smarter than Theo, Leo, or me.
“I suggest you start explaining yourself,” Leo demands, planting his hands on the table and leaning forward.
“I don’t know anything?” she snaps, glaring at all of us. “Now, let me go, and I won’t tell my father.”
“Your father won’t do shit. He’s a scared chicken shit and can’t even look me in the eye,” Leo sneers, spitting to the side like he’s got a bad taste in his mouth. “Now start talking, or I find a way to make you talk. And trust me, bitch, you don’t want me to do that.” He grins, straightening. “Better yet, you don’t want Theo to do that. Because I’m sure he’d gladly skin you alive.”
“More like hang her in a meat locker and gut her ass up before sending her to the rat himself,” Theo snarls, tossing a vase across the room.
Gillian pales but starts singing. She tells us everything. How her jealousy got in the way, and she wanted Blake gone so she could be with Theo. The bitch cries about how she’s in love with him, and he’s being heartless even if he doesn’t want to admit he loves her too.
Swear she’s delusional, if anything. You’d have to be blind to not see Theo’s head over heels for my sister. Shit, the fucker wouldn’t be carrying a damn ring in his pocket if he wasn’t.
Sobbing, she continues to talk about the rat approaching her with a deal. The two of them conspired together to get what they both wanted.
“What’s the name of the person you’re helping?” I demand, done with her story time.
Gillian brings her tear-filled eyes to me and sneers, “You should know because you were fucking her just this morning.”
What?
“Gaia?” I frown, thinking of the petite woman. She’s one of the maids here in the house and one of the women I’ve taken to my bed on several occasions.
“Ha.” Gillian laughs sinisterly. “That is not her name. How does it feel to be sinking your dick in a Gheata?”
“Come again?” I snarl, ignoring the way my stomach churns.
“That’s right, loverboy, you’ve been fucking Bianca Gheata on her father and uncle’s orders,” Gillian says, grinning like a loon. “They planted her here to get what they want to take you down. She’s also the one who gave your sweet, sweet Mia the scar on her face, making her the hideous clown she is today.”

“Go ahead and kill me now. I know it’s what you want, but know this, Gheatas always get what they want.” Slumping in her seat Gillian keeps a smirk on her face while Leo, Theo, and I absorb what she’s said.
“Tell me we got someone on Mia and Blake?” Leo demands.
