“No. In fact, he would like to move up the timetable. He’ll be here in ten minutes.”

“What? Our ceremony doesn’t start for another two hours.”

“Apparently, he doesn’t care about watching us wed anymore. He just wants the money. I think one of his pipers has come to call.”

“What about the detective handling the case?” I was kind of in a panic. This was all tooLaw & Orderfor my taste.

“Darling, relax. He will be here. Drake and I have this under control.”

“Are you sure?”

“I promise. But this does mean that if you want to back out now, you can.”

Are you kidding me? And miss out on the hot tub? No way. And, you know, a lifetime of bliss. I grabbed his shirt. “Listen here, buddy, if you’re trying to get out of marrying me today, too bad.”

Patrick grinned the sexiest of all grins. “Isabelle, you undo me.”

“Wait until you undo my dress tonight.” I had purchased some very merry undies for the occasion.

He pulled me to him, his lips crashing into mine, melding us together like molten metal. He barely took a taste before letting go, leaving me hot and bothered. “See all of you soon, darling.”

“Wait,” I said breathlessly. That brief kiss did me in. “Where is this taking place?”

“You should be able to see it all unfold out the attic window.”

“Please be careful,” I begged.

“I wouldn’t miss today for the world. I will meet you at the end of the aisle. I’ll be the one gazing adoringly at you.”

“I love you.”

“I love you more.” He walked away, whistling.

I watched him until he rounded the corner, then hurried back into the attic to inform everyone what was going on. Charlotte, Bridgette, Mom, and even Zoe, the photographer, raced to the dormer windows.

“Don’t let anyone see you,” I cautioned. I couldn’t believe this was happening. We were going to witness a takedown, on my wedding day of all days. I gripped my phone in my robe pocket just in case I needed to call for backup, meaning 911.

Charlotte gave me a crooked grin as we crouched near the windows. “You know what this means?”

“What?” I whispered, which was silly because no one outside could hear me.

“We can have a double wedding now.”

“Oh, yes,” Mom cried, fanning her eyes.

“I don’t know.”

“Oh, come on.” Charlotte bounced on the balls of her feet. “This is our Bennet sisters’ moment. You can be Lizzy, and I’ll be Jane.” That was a pretty accurate description of us.

“Does that make Patrick Mr. Darcy, and Drake Bingley?”

She wrinkled her nose. “Drake is probably more like Mr. Darcy. But that doesn’t matter. The point is, we can do this together now. The Valentine sisters.”

I did like being calledthe Valentine sisters. “I don’t know. Don’t you think we should ask our fiancés first?”

“Pish posh.” Mom waved her hands around. “You girls do what you want.”

I looked to Bridgette, who was crouched next to me. My beautiful girl dressed in a red off-the-shoulder gown. I don’t think I could have loved her more if I had given birth to her. She’d been so helpful the last few days. My shadow, even. “What do you think, honey?”
