“It will be. And I just pulled into my driveway,” she said. “If you don’t think you’ll be working late tomorrow, do you want to see each other? I can come and spend the night if you want? Not to push or anything.”

He laughed. It was exactly what he needed to hear. “I like it when you push. And I’ll make sure I’m out tomorrow on time.”

“I’ll see you then,” she said and disconnected the call.

Yes, things were moving at the right pace.

Restore Her Faith

“I’ve got it covered, Ella,” Kendra said into the phone the next morning. “Why aren’t you napping with Landon?”

“Because Madison is awake,” Ella said. “She’s playing.”

“Too bad you can’t get them both to nap at the same time.”

“They do. They will. Madison naps in the morning and the afternoon. It takes time to get Landon on a schedule. I’m lucky that he is normally sleeping for at least one of Madison’s naps and then I can get things done.”

“Like sleeping,” she said.

“I’m good,” Ella said. “I nap when I need it, but Travis is around and he doesn’t require much sleep. He helps out at night so I can get a straight five or six hours. Then I’ll get up and get Landon and go back to bed. We’re making it work.”

“I can’t imagine what your mother did when she had all five of you at once,” she said.

“Me neither. Alex had her hands full with the twins and so did Jessica. Thankfully my brothers were good and helped out their wives. Alex’s mother did too, but Jessica didn’t have that. She did have me and the rest of the family though since she had the first babies.”

Kendra did love how this family was there for everyone when they needed it. The men too.

It was nice to hear or witness men that not only helped their spouses out but actually wanted to. Not because it was expected, but that it was what a couple did.

They didn’t leave the care to one person.

She had trust issues and knew it, but it helped being around the Fierce men to restore her faith.

She tried not to judge everyone on her father’s measuring stick, but it sure was hard at times.

“And you’ve got lots of hands too. I’m sure your mother is there nonstop.”

“No,” Ella said. “She wants to be, but she’s better now. I think with the first kid she worried more than anything. She does visit every other day or so, but not for long. She’s taking Madison on Friday and Saturday so that helps. Madison, Regan and Sidney are all staying with my mom and dad. She still wishes she had more girls and enjoys the overnights with them.”

“That’s so nice. I bet your father loves it too,” she said.

“I was a Daddy’s girl. Just like Madison is with Travis. But yes, I think the overnights might be my father’s idea more.”

“I’m surprised your mother doesn’t want all the boys overnight more,” she said, giggling.

“I want to say she can’t handle it, but my mother can handle anything. I might suggest that to her one day and see what she does. She almost always has Evan and Anthony together since they are close in age. Obviously Jeremy and Jacob being twins are together. She should have a night with those four and Cameron.”

“Yeah,” she said. “It doesn’t seem fair that Cameron is left at home with his sister getting the overnight,” she said.

The two of them talked for a few more minutes. Not about work, but family and babies and it warmed her heart to be included in those personal conversations.

“Is Ella resting or working?”

She looked up to see Cade standing there. “A little of both. She called about work and then I turned it around to family. Sometimes I wonder if she just needs to talk to another adult.”

Cade grinned. “I think that is part of it. Travis is around, but he is working. Ella loves being a mother, but she likes to work too.”
