“What was this one about?” Zohar asks. “What are they all about?”

“The one at the castle was about the future,” I say. I feel kind of shy talking about it, and honestly, it’s been that way for some of the ones I keep having.

They’re sweet moments, embarrassing moments, maybe, and I don’t really want to share.

Especially if they don’t then come true.

Instead, I redirect to the one just now, because that one isn’t really something I’m scared to share.

Not scared because they’ll judge me, but scared because they might not come true.

“Vitalis is coming here,” I say, and Etrix groans. I don’t share about the man,Spyte, and his apology to his ex.

It’s strange, something I don’t understand why I overheard it.

Just as I start feeling a tugging within me, Vitalis appears in the room. He’s wearing a long sleeved, navy t-shirt, with a pair of skinny joggers. He’s got a pair of white trainers on his feet, golden stripes that match the runes I can see peeking out of his neckline.

“Howdy, golden gang,” he says, waving with a big grin on his face. “It’s finally nice to be a full mating circle, if you get my drift.”

If I hadn’t spent time with him this afternoon, I’d not have realised he’s nervous despite the extroverted welcome.

“What the fuck you doing here, kid?” Necos asks.

“He’s literally three months older than me,” Vitalis says, stage-whispering. “Now, who is who?”

“Eirik,” I say, pointing him out, and he responds with an icy glare.Great.

“Um, you Zohar,” I say, quickly moving on.

“Eirik Farglory, of the four elements,” Eirik says with a sneer on his face as he steps closer to my soulanima nexum. I gape at him, the attitude something I rarely see.

And never directed at me or one of the guys. It’s weird, and so jarring to really see the icy exterior that he’s known for.

“Zohar Rousur,” Zohar says next, and his tone is friendly at least. “Water, as I’m sure you know.”

“Ryes Thorne—”

“Whisperfelt,” Necos corrects.

“Fuck off,” Ryes snarls, throwing a tornado towards Necos without even looking his way. Necos slows time, and distinguishes the attack without even flinching. Something that strangely makes me happy, since they’re now getting familiar with each other.

He jumps to his feet and offers Vitalis his hand to shake. “RyesThorne. Air witch.”

“Nice to meet you,” Vitalis says with a grin, and he eagerly shakes his hand.

“Ciar Acirasi,” Ciar says dryly. “Dark witch.”

“Mael Inques, fire witch,” Mael says with the same kind of hostility Eirik has.

“Jasper Defas. Earth witch.” He was the politest, and I’m frustrated at the look of disgust on Vitalis’s face.

“Ugh,” Vitalis groans, sitting on the arm of Necos’s chair as Ryes and Mael start to laugh. “One of everything, Zoe? Kind of cute, but you didn’t need to bring an earth witch along to the party.”

“One thing you should know is that Zoe is very much a perfectionist,” Ryes says, and the others laugh.

“Am not!” I protest, and get another round of laughter. I sigh, and Zohar rubs my thigh, but the grin on his face takes away from the soothing gesture.

“I’m sorry I took everyone’s memories,” Vitalis says after a beat of silence. I give him a big grin, grateful he not only apologised but got us back on track.
