“Did you do this?” Owlyn asks, ignoring Faye and rubbing the material of Ciar’s outfit between her thumb and forefinger. “Oh, wow, Zoe, this is impressive.”

“She’s powerful,” Faye repeats.

“It’s not just the power. You’ve truly replicated what I put into Etrix’s suit. The feelings of love and pride… you’ve put your full soul into it.”

“Yeah, she’s a terrible copycat,” Ciar says, stepping out of her grasp. “No imagination.”

The words are hurtful, but I understand why.

“Why imagine something better than perfection?” Etrix replies. “Ignore him, princess. Ciar’s just jealous that he looks shit compared to me.”

“I’ll leave the magicae on that one,” Owlyn says. “And you can fit Eirik with it.”

“Really?” I gasp, and she nods. “Thank you so much.”

She winks at me. “If you do it tonight, I can do any touch-ups it needs first thing tomorrow.”

“She doesn’t mean that offensively either,”Etrix says.“My aunt has never offered that to anyone. She’s impressed with you, and thinks you’ve got talent.”

“Really?”I ask, and he beams at me.“Thank you for introducing me to your family.”

“Well, Tien did, but Etrix would have,”Ciar cuts in, causing Etrix to roll his eyes.“They’re really great.”

“So, let’s focus on you,” she says, showing me a book. “I want to get your dress sorted before we start doing colours.”

“Sounds great,” I murmur, but that might have been the wrong thing to say.

I know very little about formal dresses, and the little I do know comes from reality TV and not real-life experiences.

So I’ve been pretty silent whilst Tien, Faye, and Owlyn go over ideas and then put them into life. They’re amazing, and I’ve found every combination perfect—as have the boys.

But it’s not until now that they’re all happy.

And I understand why. My dress is gorgeous, and as cliche as it might be, I love that it matches with Etrix’s suit. It’s perfect.

“You’re perfect, princess,”Etrix says, reaching for my hand. He brings it to his mouth, kissing it.“All you need now is a crown.”

“All she needs is a tiara,” Faye says, somehow echoing her son.

“A tiara?” I ask.

“A tiara,” Faye confirms. “You are bonded to two princes, sweetheart. You’re entitled to a tiara.”

“And even if you weren’t, this dress absolutely requires one.”

“I do have something,” Owlyn murmurs before shrugging. “Mum’s formal one.”

“You’d let her borrow it?” Faye asks, tearing up. I panic, not sure why she’s so upset.

“Mum is the eldest, but after the drama with me and my dad… well, her mum disowned her,”Etrix’s voice murmurs in my mind, stepping close to me, and giving his mum the chance to calm down.

“Don’t refer to yourself as drama,”I say, squeezing his arm.“Your dad did that—not you.”

He sniffs my hair, and I don’t know what emotions he’s trying to hide.“Well, all the things she was meant to inherit were given to Owlyn once my grandmother died.”

“They’re rightfully yours,” Owlyn says, shrugging. “And with only that big lug over there—”

“Hey!” Etrix protests.
