“It’s a woman who came to town last night. I met her in the diner. Hell…”
“What?” Roman asked.

“Where the fuck is she?”
“She’s at the motel, but brother, you have to dial it back a bit, or you’ll scare the shit out of her. She’s not a shifter, and she’s already anxious because of this stalker she has.”
“I want to know everything about it, but I need to see and touch her right fucking now.”
“All right. Let’s go, and I’ll show you,” Hunter said. “She’s supposed to meet me at the diner for breakfast.”
Roman growled and narrowed his eyes. “Why the fuck are you on a date with my mate?”
Hunter rolled his eyes. “It’s not a date. I’m trying to get her to stay in town so we can protect her and not move on as she wanted.”
“She’s not going anywhere,” Roman said.
Hunter nodded. “Good. She’ll be there, so you have to mellow out a bit.”
“Fuck, I don’t know if I can.”
“You’re going to have to or risk the possibility of losing her.”
“That’s not even an option. If what I’ve heard about the mating heat is true, even if she’s human, she’ll feel it too.”
Hunter slapped his back. “You lucky bastard. She’s a beauty.”
“Let’s go.”
Roman and his brother crossed the street and walked into the diner. The wolves in the room looked up at him, sensing something was going on, but he and his brother ignored them.
