“This isn’t any worse than me wearing a bathing suit.”

“Certainly not worse than you wearingmybathing suit.”

“You focus on making sure Issa doesn’t die. I’ll find some clothes,” she ordered, pulling him out of the cave.

“Found a dead guy in the water," Idella hollered. "Midnight, you are rocking it, girlfriend. If you ever want to expand your talents, I’m sure Tarek would be happy to offer you a job.”

“No… and no,” Junayd replied before she could say anything.

“What was the second no for?” she asked.

Junayd pursed his lips. “Tarek already offeredmea job. I’ll tell you about it later,” he promised, pulling her into the pool area by the house.

Midnight nodded. She grabbed a robe off a hook and slipped it on. It was quicker than searching for more clothes. Threading her fingers through his, she gripped his hand tight. Her heart was pounding with relief.

“I love you, Junayd,” she said.

He smiled. “You can show me how much after I make sure Issa is going to live.”

“Deal,” she softly replied.

Epilogue

One month later:

“Is everything in place?” Qadir asked.

“Yes,” Tarek replied.

Junayd nodded, his thoughts on his twin. Jameel had reappeared last night with Midnight’s sister, and he had been unusually subdued.

Midnight entered the throne room. Junayd’s troubled gaze locked with hers. She walked over to stand next to him and his family.

“Is everything alright?” he quietly inquired.

“It will be,” she said with a rueful smile and a nod. “Junebug has some things she needs to work out.”

It seemed like that kind of thing was going around, but Junayd didn’t mention Jameel. The tension in the room was building.

Jameel entered and glanced at Junayd before turning his gaze to Tarek. Dark circles shadowed his eyes. Junayd didn’t remember ever seeing his twin this exhausted.

“Do you think this will work?” Midnight asked under her breath.

“I do. Announcing this small, informal ceremony before the public wedding was the best plan to bring him to us with the fewest people endangered.”

“Nothing like using family as bait,” she muttered.

"He will come," Junayd replied grimly.

“No, he won't," Jameel tiredly informed them. "Rashid escaped to Central America. He is in Costa Rica. Coldhouse has gone off the radar. I guess the attack on Midnight hit him hard. Bronislav is foaming at the mouth, but is back in hiding at his Moscow mansion.”

“Are you okay?” Midnight asked when Jameel ran his hand over his face.

Jameel gave her a small smile. “I haven’t slept much. I’ve never met anyone who can survive on what Junebug does.”

Midnight laughed. “Yeah. She doesn’t need much, but when she crashes, she isout.”

“Yeah,” Jameel said with a fond smile. “So, what are we going to do about Rashid?”
