Tarek’s eyes glittered. Before he could speak, Melik stepped into the conversation. All eyes went to the King of Jawahir.

“I will tell you what you are going to do. You are going to send in someone who can take him out before he tries anything else,” Melik replied, looking specifically at Tarek.

“No. Absolutely not!” Tarek hissed.

“Do you have a better suggestion?” Melik asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Yes, let him die of old age,” Tarek snapped.

Idella laughed knowingly. “I love Costa Rica. It would be a fabulous place to go on a honeymoon,” she teased.

“No, no, no, no, no!” Tarek grumbled.

“I could always go,” Midnight suggested.

“Absolutely not!” Junayd hissed.

“What’s wrong?” Bugs asked.

Junayd turned and caught his first look at Junebug Rain. She was a shocking contrast to Midnight in looks. There was an air of innocence around the curvy blonde. She looked like a beautiful porcelain doll dressed in vivid colors.

“I was offering to go after Rashid al Hamid,” Midnight said.

Junebug waved a dismissive hand. “Don’t bother. Coldhouse had him taken out last night.”

“What?” Tarek exclaimed.

“I intercepted a video message a few minutes ago. That’s what I came to share. Bronislav wasn’t happy that this Rashid guy took off. Coldhouse sent a couple of cleaners to the hotel Rashid was staying in. Pop-pop-pop, he’s dead.” Junebug wiggled her nose with distaste.

Melik shook his head. “My cousin got what was coming to him,” he reflected with a heavy sigh.

“Now if we could just get Coldhouse and Bronislav,” Tarek said.

“It is only a matter of time,” Idella reassured.

“So, is there going to be a wedding or not?” Junebug asked, her gaze lingering on the cake longingly.

“Yes, there is,” Tarek replied.

“You’d be surprised how easy it is to get married here,” Midnight said, looking at Junayd with an amused expression.

“Oh? Easier than back home?” Junebug asked.

Midnight nodded. “If someone tells you to sign something here, make sure you read it first,” she warned.

“Who would be stupid enough to sign something without reading it first?” Junebug said with a puzzled frown.

Midnight laughed and was about to reply when Junayd prevented her from confessing by wrapping his arm around her waist and whispering in her ear, “Have I told you how much I love you?”

She leaned into him and smiled. “Are you trying to distract me?”

“Every chance I get,” he chuckled.

“It’s a beautiful night. How would you feel about finding a quiet place to stare at the stars?”

He swept her up into his arms.

“Will you remove your scarf if I say yes?” he asked.

“How about I remove everything else and you remove the scarf, almukhtar?”

He stiffened. “You believe in it? You believe you are my Chosen?” he breathed.

She smiled and nodded. “I may be stubborn—verystubborn—but being your wife has been... well, you may have been onto something when you said this is more than just chemistry, it’s something bigger,” she said shyly.

“Destiny, almukhtar. You are my destiny, as I am yours,” he murmured, feeling as if his soul would burst with the love he felt for this remarkable woman named Midnight. When they kissed, their wonder, their love, and their promises were a hot current weaving between them as he carried her out of the throne room.
