Nathan groans. “OK, mom, I'm getting off the phone now. I love you. Give Dad a hug for me. Goodbye.”

Before I can gather my thoughts and prepare myself, he slides into the bathroom, gathers me up in his arms, and presses a kiss to my cheek.

“I'm disowning or never talking to the next person who calls again,” he says.

“You’re not going to do that, I say, fully aware that he loves his family and his friends.” I turned to face him, basking in the love, shining brightly in his eyes as he studies my face. “I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere.” I wrap my arms around his ribs and hold him close, loving the feeling of being chest to chest with him.

“I know, but that doesn't mean I can't want to enjoy every second with you.” He presses his lips to my forehead, and I can't imagine being any happier than I am in this exact moment.

Jonathan is always raising the bar, making me feel more loved, more accepted, more appreciated, more important. Everything he does makes me feel like I'm the most important person in his world and there's just nothing that compares to that.

I might just be the luckiest girl in existence.

One thing's for sure, there's no way I'm ever going to let Nathan go. He is my person. The one that I meant to spend the rest of my life with. The one that I want to be by my side no matter what we're facing. The one who makes me feel happy, whole and loved every second of every day.

“I love you, Stacia. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me.” He murmurs the words against my forehead.

“I agree.”

“That's awfully conceited of you,” he says with a chuckle.

I can’t help but laugh. “That's not what I meant, and you know it. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.” And I've never meant any words I've said more than those.

THE END
