As I say goodbye to him, watching him walk down the stairs, I wonder if I’ll be able to keep up the act.

The next day,I show up at the FBI’s office building and am assigned a desk. I meet with McDonald to be briefed on my work.

I knock on the door to his office and wait.

"Come," he says. I open the door and enter, standing in front of his desk in wait for his orders.

"Sit," he says finally, pointing to the chair. I sit, folding my hands in my lap, and wait some more.

"You ready for some on-the-job training?" he asks without looking up at me. “Oh, I forget. You already did most of the hard work.”

"Isn't that precisely what I am?"

"Don't worry." McDonald waves me off. "You'll never be completely alone when we send you out in public. Look around. When you see a lone man with a red button on his lapel acting very nonchalant, it's one of our guys watching over you. You can relax and feel safe."

I say nothing, but I have a sick feeling in my gut. What am I getting myself into? All I want is to see Harrison in jail for Sherri’s death and finish my degree so I can graduate and start my psych residency. It’s obvious that Harrison has to be stopped, and I feel torn about being part of an operation to trap him, but he's gone rogue and is now out for blood.

The FBI want me to help stop him. But is this the way to do it?

With me as bait?

I have to shut my mind off. I’m a novice at this whole clandestine business and can’t stop thinking about being the lure the FBI is using to capture him.

What I remember when fishing with my grandfather when I was a young girl is this: in the process of catching a fish, bait gets eaten…
