“Sophie, honey, you’ve got to go with Pete and Rae. Your mommy is safe with me. I’ll get her all better. Okay?”
“Okay.” She hiccupped, allowing Pete to hold her close.
“I’ve got her, pops. Rae and Leah are safe. They’re waiting for me. R.J. has Cara too. You get Charlotte to safety and we’ll be in touch.”
Nodding, I watched him run down the hall, and tried not to worry. My son could handle himself under pressure.
Scooping Charlotte up, I found Ghost next to me.
“Got a cage, pres. We can make it.”
“Lead the way, brother.”
Ghost pulled the attention from us, firing off shots until I managed to get Charlotte inside one of our company SUVs. We owned several businesses like the strip club and porn studio, but we had a repo company too. I took an unmarked black van and placed my woman inside, making sure I paused to tie a bandana around the wound on her thigh. The injury to her head seemed superficial, but she needed medical attention. The bleeding had slowed down considerably and that helped, but I still worried about her condition.
Hopping inside the van, I drove out of the lot on the far side of the compound, leaving my club members behind. I couldn’t feel guilty. Not when Charlotte was hurt. My foot pushed down on the gas pedal as I drove off. I’d done all I could until we reached somewhere safe and that was all I had the space to worry about.
Once Charlotte was taken care of, I’d concentrate on my revenge.
Chapter 11 Mack
“Sophie!”
Charlotte’s daughter’s name burst from her lips as her eyes opened, staring into my frazzled, concerned face. I knew what I felt was obvious, and I didn’t hide it from her.
“She’s safe. You probably don’t remember because you were out of it, but Edge rescued her from the room on the second floor. Sophie’s with Rae, Leah, R.J., and Cara.”
I pulled my phone from my pocket and called, hoping Pete answered fast.
“Dad. How’s Charlotte?”
“Awake. Is Sophie nearby?”
“Yeah. She’s right here. Hasn’t left my side.”
I handed the phone to Charlotte, and she almost dropped it. I placed my hand over hers, holding it to her ear.
