She shook her head, smiling. "Shut up."

"Giselle." His voice sounded pained so he cleared his throat and smiled again. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to kiss you. I don't know what came over me. I'm sorry, Elle. I didn't mean to hurt you."

"I kissed you, too." His coat slipped off her shoulders a little, so he left her hands and adjusted it on her again.

He held the coat on her and smirked as he said, "Well, that's because I'm irresistible."

She smiled, staring at him, not denying it.

He left the coat, smiled back at her, and playfully punched her nose. She made a silly face and grinned.

"Thank you," she whispered.

"For what?"

She shrugged.

"Are we good?" he asked.Tell me, Giselle, it's killing me!

She nodded. "We're good."

He stared at her. "Wanna go home to Xavier?"

Her smile dimmed, but he might have conveniently imagined it. "Yes, and you to your Abby."

He caught his smile before it actually dimmed, reconsidering his entire life choices. "Yeah."

"When will you see her again?"

"Tomorrow. Brunch."

She smiled. "Good."

"Come on."

He got up and held out his hand for her. She placed her hand in his and stood. She adjusted his coat over her body, looking small under it.

Once in the car, they made silly jokes the entire ride home. He made her laugh about the kiss, about how dramatic it was, and that it should've been a movie scene. At one point he told her that he was going to add their kiss song to her sleep playlist which Chris had memorized whenever she needed him to sing her to sleep. Giselle asked what the song was, and Chris sang at top of his lungs as he drove, "One kiss is all it takes! Falling in love with me! Possibilities! I look like all you need," and then grinned because he'd succeeded at making her feel comfortable enough to laugh about it. They'd jammed to that song the entire ride home.

By the time they entered the gates of her house, Giselle's cheeks were flushed from laughing. Chris smiled. This was a good look on her.

"See you tomorrow," she said, removing the branch of baby breath flowers from her hair and tucking it into the dashboard of his car.

"Wait," he said. Reaching the backseat, he grabbed the box of the pearl necklace he'd won in the auction. He pulled the necklace out. "Turn around."

She turned her back toward him.

He moved forward and removed her hair from her back onto her shoulder, noticing the goosebumps forming on her skin. He gulped. Unhooking the clasp, he draped the necklace around her neck and hooked it. His fingers lingered on her skin for a few seconds longer than necessary.

"For me?" she asked, turning around, a small smile stretching her lips.

He managed an amused smirk. "I don't think it would go with my suit."

"It would go with your personality." She grinned.

He shook his head. "See ya, Pigtails."

Rolling her eyes, she reached for her handle but Chris beat her to it. He slammed his own door shut and jogged around the car toward her door to open it for her. He placed his hand over her head to prevent her from hitting the roof as she stepped out. Then closed the door behind her.
