“I appreciate that.” He chuckled. “Traveling is bad enough without wearing uncomfortable clothes. Go put something comfy on.”

She flashed a grateful smile and hurried to her room to change into jeans and a t-shirt. One of her better ones that fit properly.

“Is this okay?” she asked as she returned to the living room.

“Are you comfortable?”

She nodded.

“Then you’re good.”

They went downstairs and outside. David motioned to a limo waiting at the curb. She hadn’t been in a limo in ages. Not since she’d left home. It was a luxurious one, too. With a stocked bar and plush leather seats.

The limo pulled away from the curb and David tilted his head and watched as she settled into her seat.

“What?” she asked.

“You’re from a wealthy family, aren’t you?”

Emily froze. “Wh-why would you say that?”

“Most women react in some way to riding in a limo.” He arched a brow. “You got in like you’ve done it a hundred times before.”

Emily stared at her hands but didn’t say anything.

“Emily?”

She glanced up and nodded.

His eyes turned curious but he only smiled and patted her hand. “The drive to the airport is about forty-five minutes.” He leaned his head back and closed his eyes. “Forgive me if I take a short nap. I was up most of the night going over my presentation notes and I’m going to have to do more studying on the flight.”

Emily watched him for a long moment before doing the same. It felt like only a moment before David put his hand on hers to wake her as they pulled up next to a large hangar near an airstrip. “You up late last night, too?” he asked with a laugh.

“A little.”

“Excited?”

“I’m not sure yet.”

He laughed. “A fair answer.”

The door to the limo opened and he stepped out into the growing light of the morning. Emily followed and stopped short as she caught sight of the private jet in front of her. The Warecorp logo was emblazoned on the side in bright blue.

“Like it?” He grinned.

“It’s big.”

“Been on a private jet before?” he asked, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

“A few times.”

He smiled. “I’m learning more about you all the time, Emily.” He walked toward the jet and Emily hurried behind him, glancing back to see if the driver was bringing their bags, which he was.

She stopped as she stepped into the cabin. It was decorated in shades of tan and cream. Cream leather seats and couch, with lacquered wooden tables and accents. The ceiling was just high enough for David to walk without stooping. He was around six feet tall. He sat down in one of the chairs and motioned for her to sit across from him. “Unless you get sick from flying backward?”

She shook her head. “I always kinda liked it.”

He arched a brow and she bit her lip, realizing she was giving away a lot of information about her past by answering his questions.
